ReconTom -> UNCOMMON VALOR PBEM (8/9/2004 10:47:59 PM)

Can anyone help me?! My friend and I have been trying to play Uncommon Valor via Email for weeks and getting into months now. We can't seem to get beyond one full turn. He is the Japanese. He starts the game, saves it and zips it. I unzip into Matrix Games/Uncommon Valor/Save folder and the fisrt file works...I can find it in the saved game list and I can "load" it from the saved game list and play. I send it back to him and he is able to open and watch the replay created and then plays his second turn....then he saves and zips and sends it back to me with a new name like "Glyn's second turn"...but then when I unzip to the Save folder it is not displayed in the games Saved game list...my old one is still there but not the new one...and the screwy thing is that when I check the contents of the Save Game folder in the Matrix Games/Uncommon Valor folder!! All the email files are there...my old zip and old file and his new incoming zip and the second file...BUT...the second set of files do not show when you open the game.....and yes I have clicked on "EMAIL GAME" and yes I unzipped it to the save folder....it is driving us nuts. We want to buy the new Pacific War game that is coming out but we won't waste our money if Matrix doesn't have either a clear answer on how to play email games without it being some kind of supreme and frusting pain in the butt or without making that function a hell of a lot easier than it apparently is. Sorry to be so emotional but we have spent hours and hours trying to get pbem to work...and it is not as if we are not experienced players. We play all the HPS games and Combat Mission games in the other clubs and have zipped, unzipped, saved and played thousands of turns in any of a dozen other computer wargames....why the hell is this one some kind of an ordeal.

I have checked the forum and searched for UV and "pbem" and can find nothing about this issue...I guess that makes up some kind of dummies.

Help please if you can...all we want is a clear step by step list of how to start, play, save, name and send an email file for UV.

Thanks,
Tom
