kmussler -> Crash on Night Bombing run (8/14/2004 10:08:04 PM)

I am currently running version 1.21, having previously installed 1.10 and 1.20. I have been playing the campaign (scenerio 15) and began having this problem on or about turn 70.

I have a group of B-17's at Port Moresby and sent them to bomb Rabaul at night (to avoid the majority of the fighter opposition. The first time I did this and every time thereafter, the game will show the animation screen and then will hang after leaving it (before showing the combat summary screen). After a few seconds of hanging, the game crashes and returns me to the desktop. When I restart the game from the save and hit the end of orders button again (before making any other moves), the game runs fine through the night bombing run. The third time this occurred during the "hang", I hit the ESC key and the game continued through to the combat summary.

My save game routine is to save the game promptly after the end of combat resolution; and, to save the game just before I hit the "end orders" button. I have made duplicates of those save files for turn 73.

CORRECTION - The hang and crash occurs just BEFORE the combat animation screen should appear. Pressing ESC stops the hang-up and prompts the combat animation screen to appear. The game's combat resolution process then continues without further problems.

Ayup,

there is a bug when night bombers encounter night fighters....

Been a couple three threads about it. The search button is your friend [:)]

Thanks, Mongo for the info, [:)]
Sorry, for adding to the clutter with a repeat thread.
