Becket -> Can someone point me to the "help the noobie" threads? (8/17/2004 12:24:35 AM)

I've finally found some free time to start playing WitP's main scenario and I'm totally overwhelmed (allies...I assume as the Japanese it's even worse).

I have some vague ideas to try to improve Phillipine & Malaysia defense to delay the inevitable, but I'm also tempted to just get those troops out of there.

Do people use Computer control of areas? Or do you manually go through every air group on every turn to make sure they don't get terribly fatigued?

Go to the War Room at the top of this forum. Enter the thread "Basic Allied Stategy". There are enough links there to keep you busy awhile.

Stay away from the auto convoy.

In the "War Room" of the WITP forum theres a thread called Basic Allied Strategy thats a good read. It has links to lot of posts on different problems for the allied player.

You don't have enough PPs to do this too early...and still get other units where they are needed. I use PPs when I can spare them and use a DD or something as fast transport to get 2 GIs and some beans out. These 2 guys will rebuild to full strength once the main body in the PI gets wiped out.

I look over everything about once a week and pay more attention to the ones getting alot of action.

There is also the WITP FAQ file (sticky in this forum)

Spooky

Has a whole section on "Newby Guide" in word format (the listing on the left side of his web page)

Scen #2 is very good for the start.

Don't jump into Big Campaign right away. I played UV intensely for some years and (even) I feel more comfortable starting with something smaller.

O.

I may actually go back to my original plan and just beat up on the Japanese in August Storm...but everytime I load it and see Joe Warrant Officer in command of Far Eastern Command I cry and close the scenario.

Oh you Soviet lover [:D][:D] But that's really bizarre scenario to pick for start. No naval assets, no subs to play with...

But you can replace the WO with your favorite commander among those in database, so use your komissar prerogatives and get rid of the intruder.

If you think you'll train better in PBEM let me know [8D]

Oleg
