mapr -> No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/18/2004 8:35:14 PM)

Hi,

Could someone tell me why my CV TF have no AC marked on TF info dialog? And virtually no missions fly from those CV's.... Environment is target rich, but only missions that fly are consisted of less than half dozen planes... No question about morale, good training and no damaged AC...

In the screen you showed, click on one of the CVs names. Then look at the next screen.

Are they real CVs or baby CVEs ? I noticed several Japanese CVEs come with no air groups.

look at the picture, they are big boys...US carriers (Hornet and company)

my guess is that when they took damage the planes diverted to another landing area and are awaiting you to pick them up (transfer) of if there were no safe landing area, they all crashed into the sea... Check each ship for the air units with damaged planes - they don't show up in the carrier aircraft list (at least I don't think).. If the units are on the CVs but have no planes, then my guess is they well all lost at sea while your CVs were unable to conduct flight operations.. Simply return to a good base with ample supply and accept new planes and pilots - should get you back into the fight.

yes, I think so...

mapr : check nearest airbases or List all... screens to find where they are (Hornet air groups are designed VF, VB, VS, VT - 8, Yorktown with number 5 and Lady Lex should be 2)

mapr -> RE: No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/18/2004 11:08:24 PM)

Sorry, did not remember to tell at first that there are 230 AC in those CV's. Almost 100% functional. And at map screen when you put mouse over TF that number shows with those individual squadrons. So, no help so far... Point was that there are lots of AC in ready state, but practically none of those fly and probram shows that none exists in TF.

[Continued editing. Seems that I just can't say things in one message :(]

There have not been any attacks to my my CV's for a over a week and couple turns before those planes attacked just fine. I have save file etc. And dive bombers atleast have Naval attack and search at 20% at 10 000 feet. This evening or next evening I have time to put bit more of those screenshots. So, answer is not that simple that CV's would be empty or that planes damaged or something...

This was what I meant :) Why it shows that, those CV's are pretty well filled... Approx 80% pf their capacity. And have to say that if I say "No damaged planes" also means that there are other planes. :)

Maliki -> RE: No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/19/2004 9:13:17 AM)

Not all classes of CV's start with a compliment of planes from what i have played. Are you using the big Cv's?Or are you forming TF's with CVL's and CVE's?The Big boys always have an air compliment, but with the other designations you may want to check them before sending them out to play tag with the bad guys.

mapr -> RE: No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/19/2004 9:30:31 AM)

CV's are Lexington, Yorktown and Hornet. One group of dive bombers is Carrier capable, all other groups are carrier trained. As I said, 230 AC are in those CV's. Even if TF info screen says that there is no AC in TF.

Arkady -> RE: No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/19/2004 9:32:00 AM)

and do you have air operation points left ?
aren't they depleted ?

anchor this TF in a port, refill and check again...

mapr -> RE: No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/19/2004 9:43:17 AM)

That is my plan :) Already have set TF to sail to closest pretty safe port with supplies and fuel.

But those CV's have been operating after replenishment for couple days before stopped making attacks... Not that much worried about not attacking, but much more worried about that number of planes in TF. That wonders me quite a bit.

And now to the ignorance part... "Air operation points"? What are those? Tried to find from manual, but no luck... And no luck with Aviation poins or with looking through all Carrier words. Atleast I did not notice anything that would cause situation like this. Operation poins as I know, should renew every day.

Arkady -> RE: No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/19/2004 9:49:24 AM)

click carrier name from TF list, ship info screen appears, on the rights side somewhere near AC capacity is Max sorties label, there are are two numbers, first max sorties from this carrier and second sorties left

mapr -> RE: No aircraft on CV TF - What I am missing? (8/19/2004 9:56:37 AM)

Oh... Thanks. Have to check that when I get home from work. But still, that should not make aircraft number to be '0'... And as far as I know ( I mostly know UV ) that flight number should renew everyday... Or is there anything that might stop AC's from flying from CV's with fuel and less thatn 50 damage?

You are out of sortie points, head to the nearest friendly port with lots of supply and the points will replenish.

Thanks! This was what I was missing... And I thought that I had read that part of manual. "Sortie points" I found from manual... There seems not to be any rule about port size.

Now I'd love to see some sort of percentage limit selection that would be allow to save some ammo for sudden enemy CV activity. :) And when using several day turns, CV TF could head to home base after reaching the option limit if retirement is allowed.
