Error in 0 -> What is YOUR most anticipated Matrix title? (8/20/2004 2:09:16 AM)

I am eagerly awaiting GaryGrigsby's World at War! Also, World in Flames, but its in the distant future. So, what about Battles in Normandy? Well, I think Ill try Highway to the reich first, and maybe BIN after that. Maybe, but if its gonna cost 80$, then no way [:)].

Im hoping GGWaW will be all that HoI was not. A bug-free, grand strategic 'rule the world' type of game with some realistic combat system, emphasis on supplies, reasonable action-counteraction gameplay. Sold at retails across the world!

BIN way out in front, althugh I am testing ggwaw and it is GREAT... so maybe BIN is a close win [:D]
Bin is due, or overdue and GGWAW is awhile out yet... so kinda tough... I would love a good, military, economic civil war game.. one that combined battles and a trategic element of army movement between battles and economics... oh ye that was not the ?.. sorry

Combat Leader is the only game I have waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited for :)

The market has plenty of games frankly, and life will go on if I don't get every single one of them.

But Steel Panthers is what got me into computer wargaming. And all we have ever been told about CL, is it will be so much better.
Tough statement to live up to admittedly.

But as much as I might like several games, CL is the one I have been actually "waiting" for with anything like real anticipation.

I don't have a lot of faith that cWiF can actually be done (sorry guys, feel free to prove me wrong :) ).
But I guess seeing it on sale would make me feel good.

After so many years of buying some of the best in wargaming (for the computer) I am a bit over provided for actually. Not sure anyone can really sell me much of anything any more unless it truely DOES re invent the experience.

Only game to actually break out of the wretched trends if you ask me, was HTTR.
But I am not really "worried" about good follow ons from HTTR failing to show up now, as I am assuming the guys that made HTTR wish to enjoy the fruits of a job well done.
So it is just a matter of waiting on them.

[:)] We are in fact working our behinds off to produce a fitting sequel, in the form of Conquest of the Aegean (COTA), there are already some alpha screenshots up in the COTA forum (you can get to it through the 'Jump to:' pulldown at the bottom of this page).

Combat Leader

http://www.combatleader.net/main.asp

Enhanced unit characteristics: experience, training, élan, morale. fatigue, morale state, and suppression

I'd like to see them add panache as well. Since I can edit myself into the game, and I'm certain to look good going into battle, I feel it should be modelled somehow [8D]

riverbravo -> RE: What is YOUR most anticipated Matrix title? (8/20/2004 7:19:08 PM)

I think its called ....Combat Leader.

Whatever game Paul Vebber is working on.I looked at the screenies and read the details and it seems to a game I really could get into.

it was war in the pacific. now i'm blissfully happy, and my wife has forgotten what i look like.

dinsdale -> RE: What is YOUR most anticipated Matrix title? (8/24/2004 7:20:09 PM)

I've been anticipating Empires In Arms for about a year now :( But it looks like light is at the end of the tunnel. There's also Battles In Normandy, which I'd bet is going to be here first, and World In Flames, which might take a little longer.

World In Flames might finally mean a real, tried and tested, complex grand strategy for WW2. That will make the wait worthwhile.

Oleg Mastruko -> RE: What is YOUR most anticipated Matrix title? (8/25/2004 3:47:01 AM)

Well, including the obvious, ie. the game in my sig...

1.) GG WaW - this one I *know* is going to be great [:D]
2.) Empires in Arms - Napoleonic strategy, for a change, could be fun
3.) Flashpoint Germany - is it out yet???
4.) COTA - anything on HTTR engine *must* be good, but I think they would do better to have published this as add on mission pack for HTTR
5.) Battlefields has (had?) lots of promise but its' development cycle seem hectic and unpredictable at best
6.) Anything by GG even if it's in pre-embryonic, proto-alpha stage of development (UV Med?, WIR?) [:D]

World in Flames would be on the list as well, but it'll take aeons to finish (IMO). Guns of August - could be "sleeper", WW1 game is badly lacking, but graphically, what screens I saw at Adanac site, it sucks [:-]. It'll take lots of work from Marc and Matrix graphic dudes to make it look like a game that should be played in gaming 21st century.

Frankly I'm not that hot on Combat Leader (don't see anything exciting or new in this title, could be wrong though), nor on any new sequel to Squad Assault series (if it becomes series). GIC and EYSA were disappointing IMO. Also, various SF side-projects don't interest me all that much, but surprises are possible. I tried Massive Assault, and it's a fun game, well executed in some aspects, but misplaced in a sense. Korsun, BIN - I utterly failed to see what's so great in DB engine, so many better wargames around IMO, sorry.

The most anticipated title in history of Matrix for me was WITP, but now it's out, it can't be on this list, no? [&o]

(Wow, I don't know to write a short post.)

O.

Neilster -> RE: What is YOUR most anticipated Matrix title? (8/25/2004 4:52:31 AM)

World in Flames (I know, I know. I bought a PC in '98 due to its imminent release [:@])
Conquest of the Aegean.
Battles in Normandy
Battlefields!

Cheers
Neilster
