Lost Lieutenant -> Updating issues (this one for the Tech Poobahs) (2/11/2002 12:49:00 PM)

I'm trying to update my game from v5.1 to 5.2. I go through the installation process (made sure I was installing to folder where the game is located), restart my computer, but when I start my game up, it still says "v.5.1" at the bottom of the screen. Any ideas on what's going on?

Not a tech guru, but IIRC this matter has been discussed several times before, always reaching the same explanation: it's a matter of "nested" folders, that is yr update has been unpacked inside the original folder containing the previous version. This means there are 2 spwaw folders one inside the other with the two versions inside.
Try to check if this is the reason why.
Someone else will be hopefully more precise than me in explaining the thing.

Did you simply install to the default directory or use browse to select the destination directory for the upgrade...if the latter you should have made sure the default path was deleted, since browsing can simply add the browse-selected folders to the install path, exactly as Resisti described. If this is the case you can re-install, this time making sure the install path is correct... alternatively you can simply copy the 5.2 files from the nested directores into the existing 5.1 directories...since the upgrade has worked any system settings will have already been updated and so it isn't necessary to repeat the up-date. If you had up-dated by extracting zip files someone else supplied, rather than running the update program, the same situation of nested directories can occur if the supplier zipped the files with the "save full path" option on, and then you extract them to the correct directory...the archive program creates the directory path down from the directory you have selected, that is nests the original directory path from the directory you selected for the extract...again you can simply copy the files into the correct directories.

That was it exactly, thanks man. I'm now on 7.0.
