Lionfish -> New Player (8/24/2004 7:01:58 PM)

I have been playing KP for a little while and still feel overwelmed on command decisions. I have been a long time player of Steel Panthers and Western Front, which are smaller scale wargames. This is my first larger scale game.

Bringing forces to bare, strategies, and tactics have been eluding me in this game. The game itself is very good, easy to understand, great interface. The problem that I am having is on utilizing the tools correctly inorder to make the best command decisions.

I would love to play a short email game with someone that would be willing to "Unhide" all units and walk me through some decision making. I need to know the how as well as the why.

Or

If someone lives in San Francisco and is willing to come by my office some time and play a hotseat game and show me why and how to make better command decisions, it would be great.

I have played 3 scenarios and I can tell that I am getting better, but I am a the level where I don't recognize an OK strategy vs. a Great Strategy. Also I fail to see mistakes until they are too late.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I have been to the RUN5 Forums, but they seem to be down today.

Regards...

Whatever other help you receive from the people on this board, the quickest "into the frying pan" approach to learning is definitely playing others by pbem. And while it might be daunting at first, I would also recommend signing up in one of the many tournaments over at Run5. You'll likely get stomped, but the post-game analysis will be worthwhile, especially if you get matched with one of the superior players of the game (the designers also join in on these tournaments).
