Gary D -> Question for Pry on Scenario 16 (8/27/2004 9:32:51 PM)

Pry,
Have been playing your scenario as the allies up to mid September 42. Have run into a situation where when the large group of reinforcements arrives on September 14th I was unable to divide the large air units to ship them east (no "divide group" button visible). Playing around with some previous saves, it appears that there is a finite number of groups which may be broken down. I went and combined some groups previously divided and presto! now I can divide the reinforcements.
I admit I divide most large air groups and micro manage individual targets. How did you and the other designers use your air groups?
I have a hard drive full of saves if you want to look at this.

Thanks for all your efforts!
Gary

Hello Gary,

There is a limit on the number of air sub units (actually a limit on the numbers of any kind of units) that be in the game at the same time, the only one that should never reach max is task forces and the only number I can state for sure which is 1000 TF per side.

I don't know what the air number is but will find out. Personally when I play which has been very rare since March (worked on scenarios 10, 11, 12 before release and 16 and OOB patch work since) I tend to split groups to make sure they fill out to max size and use them as a whole group and only divide when needed like as the allied player when you are short of everything early in the war.

This is not a bug you just reached the game limit and for whatever it is worth you have reached another WitP milestone as the 1st person to ever reach the air max limit in game play that I have heard of.

As a matter of curiosity go ahead and send me a save of a turn when you hit the limit if you will sir, I would like to look it over.
