Frank W. -> MC LV BUGS ? (8/28/2004 8:50:11 PM)

hi,

finally started the LV MC i had purchased before a year or so.

i noticed the following:

my infantra squads have no handgrenades

battle no. 3 starts with a arty barrage frm the russians
that says 76.2mm how. firing. but the explosions are more
like 152mm. the brisge got hit n which in the start of the scen
my 105mm how´s ar emoving. the bridge is destroyed and 2
of my how´s are destroyed before i even start playing..

also the 105´s are american 105 M2, not the german version.

sounds a bit like OOB fault, but i have 7.1 installed ( no 8.0
or H2H ).

also i wonder a bit why i need always adjust the range and
stance of troops with every new scenario. i´m used from
campaign playing that these seeting are overtaken from
the battle before. a bit annoying.

thanks for tipps !

frank

Did you try deleting the steel.prf file from spwaw Save file, try it and see if that don't help some.

Otherwise do a search in this forum about 1 year back, I've never tried LV yet.

One more thing came to mind. Are your 7.1 OOBs dated 04/07/02. These were the latest for 7.1.

Good Luck

I have played LV MC a long time ago and have also noticed that all german infantry squads were not equipped with handgrenades whereas Paul Vebber HQ unit gets handgrenades.I get no explanation for that...but I suppose this is due to 7.1 OOB.

IIRC regarding the 3rd battle where your horses tracted guns have to cross the river some are lost in the bridge collapse when the russian shells hit it;but I don't remember this sound issue relating to the explosion.Have you installed the sound patch for LV MC?

Frank W. -> RE: MC LV BUGS ? (8/29/2004 1:32:45 AM)

thanx.

seems the issues i brought up are no bugs but WAD ( works as designed ).

the shells that destroyed the bridge must be heavier ones because
all under 105mm can not destroy a bridge btw.

Clipper1968 -> RE: MC LV BUGS ? (8/29/2004 1:49:52 AM)

You are correct but IIRC the bridge is not a permanent one as it has been built up by german engineers units in order to allow vehicles to cross the river;the Russians has blown up all the bridges to delay the assault and the advance.
Could be an explanation...

Frank W: Try here for latest 7.1...after you get on Prados site just scroll down you'll run into OOBs for 7.1....http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/sp_waw.htm.......after this will try something else....HTH

Major Destruction -> RE: MC LV BUGS ? (8/31/2004 12:49:01 AM)

The rifle squads are armed with rifle grenades in the first game. I assume this remains true as the campaign progresses.

RockinHarry -> RE: MC LV BUGS ? (9/3/2004 4:42:34 PM)

Lost Victories Mega Cam suffered a little bit from the ongoing OOB development at that same time. IIRC when Lost Victories was started, V4.5 OOBs were the starting point and went through to final V7.1. Weapon configurations are stored in each scenario file, so when there´s rifle grenades instead of hand grendes this portrays the state of the OOBs when the scenario was "finalized". Actually not really a problem, even with newer OOBs (post V7.1) weapons keep the same, although ammo loads could show up with odd figures at rare times.

Best would be to adapt tactics and don´t use rifle grenades (or don´t use up all ammo) until you get close to hand grenade range (=1 hex). Effect is almost the same. At closer view your german infantry squads even have some advantage over hand grenade equipped units (3 ranged weapons instead of 2), but all having rifle grenades and no hand grenades at all surely is not historical.

In Panzer Leo´s H2H mod hand grenades and rifle grenades are even lumped together into a single weapon. [:)]
