SeaJunk -> Auto sub op advice (9/8/2004 8:05:26 PM)

Im playing scen #14 under v1.21 as the allies in 10/42 and I have auto sub ops on with allied doctrine.

Im noticing a couple of things that I need advice on.

1. I have an AS at midway which subs seem to be using. There are 15 subs in port there and a few in task forces. TF's are being generated and sent out periodically. There are several subs with systems damage in port. Am I correct in assuming that I should manually move these to pearl for repairs?

2. I have about 20 sub TF’s in Sydney that have returned from patrol but haven’t gone out again for weeks. Are these guys just waiting for combat rotation as there are still numerous subs still on patrol out there?

3. Should I be using auto sub ops at all?

Thanks
SJ

Sub Ops Auto is a bit conservative and most players take over this portion manually because of it. It takes a long time to repair using just the AS while it is also servicing the reloads etc so sending them back to a major port for repairs is viable depending on how you want to use them.

In my games as japan I always use Wake as a forward supply base for the subs operating on the west coast and around PH. I keep an AS there to reload torps and help repair flooding damage on subs that limp into port.. Once the floatation damage is fixerd, I send them off to the mainland for repairs - always... A damaged sub - even if just 10% will probably die on the next hit - get them out quick and repaired as fast as possible and back into action..

PS Btw, I never use auto sub ops
