In your opinion, what ist the most beautiful IJN ship?

My vote goes to the Mogami CA class. (obviously the
1943 conversion of Mogami herself was an aberration)

regards,
Gunnar

The one sinking after the onslaught of my carrier TF.[:D]

Mike Scholl -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/15/2004 9:13:27 PM)

For elegance of lines, the Yamato's are hard to beat. The CA's, with that "out of place" fifth
turret that can't fire forward just don't quite "look right".

Beauty being relative, I always thought the fuso's looked cool because of the pagoda-style masts. Altho any of the PH carriers in flames looks good to me too.

They are butt ugly.

Ron Saueracker -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 12:25:34 AM)

Fubuki DDs or rebuilt Kongos. I like the old Furutaka look, too.

Tiornu -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 12:58:20 AM)

Takao with that mountainous superstructure.
I deny any Freudian connection.

tsimmonds -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 1:00:08 AM)

Let me think now.....

edit: Tiornu beat me to it.

madflava13 -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 1:46:58 AM)

I have to go with the Atagos.. Love that massive bridge.

cyberwop36 -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 4:33:08 AM)

They all look good sitting on the bottem. That soft watery distortion and the slow creap of sea life growing on them is my favorite. The rearranging of the superstructure and hull courtesy of the 1000#lb bombs and various torpedoes of the USN. [:D]

jnier -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 4:37:19 AM)

How about Zuikaku/Shokaku? The most handsome carriers for sure, right?

Yeah, I got to give an amen to that.

Or should that be, "Tenno Banzai!"?

mogami -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 5:58:48 AM)

Hi, This thread shouuld have been one post and then just a lot of "your rights" following. Guke knows what he is talking about. (But truthfully I agree the Yamato class BB are among the most beautiful ships ever built)

freeboy -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 6:21:20 AM)

Yamato Class, Big burly and has those sweet love handles on the side... lots of her to love
grace prow.. my favorite aspect is the long bow and bulbous curves.. very sexy.. in a kind of 18" way

Crist, Freeboy! Go cruise a porn sight for a while. You've been gaming too hard.

mogami -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 6:39:47 AM)

Hi, For a good time call 1-900-Yamato 1.25 per minute

shokaku/zuikako imho.

they are beautiful looking carriers and also they gave the american fleet a very good fight during the war until their end.

m10bob -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 4:00:12 PM)

Kagero DD's or the rebuilt Kongo BC's..

BossGnome -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 5:49:01 PM)

shokaku and zuikaku are indeed both very good looking carriers, but I prefer the Shinano, though it was pretty useless during the war.

tsimmonds -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 5:59:49 PM)

Taiho was a good-looking ship. It's a shame there were so few photos of her.

brisd -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/16/2004 6:43:46 PM)

I agree with irrelevant about the Takeo class, very handsome ships. I also like Akagi and the Zuikaku/Shokaku carriers.

waynec -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/17/2004 12:42:55 AM)

TONE

maybe i'll do a new banner

Alikchi2 -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/17/2004 3:07:02 AM)

I vote Taiho, carrier-wise. With Tone and Fuso coming after that.

Mike Scholl -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/17/2004 4:22:25 AM)

Personally, I disqualify all carriers as their design purpose results in variations of the
"cheesebox on a raft" description given the USS Monitor. It's impossible to combine
elegant lines and a flight deck.

Ron Saueracker -> RE: Most beautiful IJN ship? (9/17/2004 4:26:07 AM)

Myokos look better than Takeos...no arguement. Thing is, ya have to like natural breasts, not California implants. Takeos are totally top heavy. Look weird.[;)]
