Orzel Bialy -> Terrible Tarawa Scenario Available (9/21/2004 6:18:12 AM)

A new scenario covering the invasion of Tarawa in 1943 is now available here:

Spwaw Depot

The scenario is really more of a micro-campaign since 3 days of fighting are represented in this 41 turn battle. The map is x2 scale which was necessary to portray the battle effectively and it seems to have worked wonderfully. [8D]

Loved your map, Orzel. It is a masterpiece, but I've come to expect that from you. [&o]

The battle for Betio Island in the Tarawa Atoll was a turning point in amphibious warfare for the Allied struggle in the Pacific.

Before I download it and play it, I must ask...is it winnable. You know me, Orzel, I will not play a scenario I cannot win. I'm sure you remember my dogged nagging on all the MCSE team about that point.

Tell me that and I just might give this one an old Wild Bill try.

Kunel,

I learned the trade from you my friend...so it is winnable. Extremely heavy losses will lead to a draw....moderate a MV...and if you manage to take the island with small losses you will get the DV.

Please let me know what you think. [;)]

Well done! I enjoyed this but I might be a little, ah, well, let's say my view is tainted (Semper Fi).

Thanks Bruce! [:)]

I only wish the game had more unit slots available so that I could have made it even more historically accurate...but in the end I kind of had to keep playing with force mixes until I got something that made me happy with the results.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. [;)]
