I have a little 2 1/2 year-old somebody that keeps me on my toes while the turns are running. I've ended up wearing alot of Mommie's jewelry more than once....

Hmmmm, coffee,coffee-Coffee. Thats what keeps me going. Also I get up and move around after awhile(chase my dog)(listen to wife), now this is after awhile, when I am tired of sitting. Getting your butt kicked in Witp, also helps too wake you up.[:D]

Ah, be careful teaching your girls about wargames. A buddy of mine started his off like that, and when they turned 15 they really got into it with him....After about a year, they started to kick his royal rear end (non wallet side -- Wallet side, well that's another completely different topic). Then they discovered boyfriends who played also, so he got a reprieve...for a bit....and wargames took on a different meaning all together...

dtravel -> RE: WitP and Falling Asleep (9/22/2004 2:30:36 AM)

I'm managing to play and write up for my AAR three to four turns a day. 'Course, I'm also sitting around on my ... postier all day not working. If I wasn't writing the AAR I'd probably be doing around 10 turns a day (March of 42 as Allies).

RUPD3658 -> RE: WitP and Falling Asleep (9/22/2004 4:38:49 AM)

If you can give up watching every move you can get alot more done. I play with combat reports off unless I have time to sit in front of the computer. I also save after plotting my turn.

On work days I run a turn while I am showering/eating breakfast. I then read the reports, plot my next turn, and save.

When I get home I execute that turn and if I have have time before dinner a second one. With a wife and a 2-year old there is not much free time.

After my son goes to sleep I try to get 2-3 turns in. On these I turn combat reports back on.

I have run turns while on the treadmill, cutting the grass, and even doing laundry. If you are in a lull where all you are doing is moving stuff around try setting the turn cycle to 2-3 days. At 20 min to run a turn you can get alot done instead of staring at the screen.

Jolt got me through college but since I developed acid reflux all caffine is on the verbotten list. Getting old sucks.

For the parents of young kids (2-):

I have discovered that my son likes to watch stuff move around on the screen. The air ops phase is his favorite. He is also entertained by me readind AARs if I make them sound like a story.

I do a full day's work. Not too hard but a desk job. I go home and after the girlfriend and eating I start to play around 9pm. But I keep falling asleep during the CPU processing of my second or third turn. Any of you guys have any advice in keeping awake?

well, i have the game running on one computer while i'm working on the other. another suggestion is to take a fork and put it just under your chin with the tinres pointing up. when you start to nod off, you will stab yourself.

I keep a magazine in front of my monitor to flip through when I'm bored. The combat replay is my favorite part of the game. Even when I know nothing is going to happen I get excited for the replay because you never know for sure.

CMDRMCTOAST -> RE: WitP and Falling Asleep (9/22/2004 6:18:32 AM)

I take a break and play DOOM3 for an addrenaline rush then go back to WITP.
I also drink a 54 ounce cup of coffee every day from 7:00 to 12:00 and that keeps me going till 10:00 pm.

sacorsair -> RE: WitP and Falling Asleep (9/22/2004 6:25:51 AM)

One real good way to stay awake is let your kids do just one turn for you and then you will be awake weeks trying to find out what in the He11 just happened !!!![sm=00000959.gif]

Like the time they poured chocolate milk in my cd player and closed an army man in it.
I had to rebuild my whole computor in the midst of a heavy UV PBEM CV battle.[:-]
Oh but there so cute......[:D]

wobbly -> RE: WitP and Falling Asleep (9/22/2004 7:48:50 AM)

hells bells - I have trouhle trying to go to sleep, not keep awake.

pzB gives me another walloping and then, after the fuming, swear words and other immature behaviour i turn into a cold calculating SoB. I then start to fashoin wonderous ways in which i slip past his defenses and plant a dozen tonnes of TNT somewhere that's really going to hurt.

I lie their smiling to myself, thinking about how he is for it, and then I eventually nod off. Of course by the morning I have forgotten all the ploys. All of these grand plans were thought of after I sent the turn anyway and to make matters worse he has replied with a turn that requires more swearing and tantrums.

Time to go to work and think about ways to get out of the crap I have found myself in - of course there is no paying attention during meetings - I am in the DEI - formulating plans!! [:D]

repeat ad nauseum

I'd skip that..

..and that too. Both activites are known to put men to sleep fast.

AdmNelson -> RE: WitP and Falling Asleep (9/22/2004 6:14:01 PM)

Coffee and plenty of it. But the mug should be the large WITP mug( which my wife uses all the time-- wonder what she is saying with that.)

Well ... you could try quality time with your girlfriend ... if you are still falling asleep ... get a *new* girlfriend
Would the same apply to the wife

dday -> RE: WitP and Falling Asleep (9/22/2004 6:45:04 PM)
