Lascar -> Strategic Napoleonic game? (12/6/2000 4:06:00 AM)

With the sad demise of the "Wars of Napoleon" project does Matrix have plans to develop and release an alternative treatment of a Grand Strategic Napoleonic game? Perhaps incorperating the fine graphics work done by Robert Wallace for "Wars of Napoleon." Hope this is the case, a good strategic Napleonic game is long overdue.

Agreed. Does anyone have words on what, if anything, Talon Soft did with the design they "acquired" from Matrix? Release Date?

I fired off an e-mail to Talonsoft asking what the status of "Wars of Napoleon" is. This was their reply: Dear David, We cannot comment on any project Frank Hunter is working on. I'm sorry, Eric Young Executive Producer TalonSoft, Inc. I submitted this inquiry after I had asked Frank Hunter what the status of the "Wars of Napoleon" project is. He told me he could not comment and to ask Talonsoft. Likewise, they also refuse to comment. It appears there are some legal manueverings going on behind the scenes that prevents all involved parties from commenting.

To Lascar, I am an old friend of Frank Hunter's from his old Imagic game that I have combined with CWG2. He was most helpful in that project. I have not been able to contact him since this T-Soft mess occurred. Both addy's I had are no longer any good. I would ask that you email me at hanksteph@ev1.net so that I can get help in contacting Frank. You of course may feel free to contact Frank to get permission. I do not believe that should be a problem. Regards, Hank

A strategic Napoleonic game remains in our long term plans, beyond that I can't make any prediction as to when. There should be news soon on our forcoming game offerings, but we are leery of premature annoucements after the Wars of Napoleon debacle...

Hi Hanksteph, I corresponded with Frank via CDMag wargames forum: http://www.cdmag.com/Home/home.html?section=war&article=/Sponsors/html/war/spotlight/war.html. This is under Frank's La Grande Armee thread. The email address he posted there is: Send e-mail to frankh@matrixgames.com Hope this helps

We really need a Grand Strategic 17th-19th century game. Remember all that talk about Steel Panthers: WWI and Colonial variants?

Hello Gobbler, have look on Europa Universalis then: http://www.europa-universalis.com/ Anyway a game on the Napoleonic era is sadly missing, I hope Matrix will be able to develop one. Crusader [This message has been edited by Crusader (edited December 31, 2000).]
