nittany -> What is this? (1/4/2001 5:26:00 PM)

Will this be based on the same game engine as WitP or a stand alone game (with it's own game engine)?

Mike Wood -> (1/4/2001 8:28:00 PM)

Hello... If you have a look-see in "Our Games", you will find that we have three products in development, with 2x3 Games.

The first of these is "Uncommon Valor: Campaign for the South Pacific". We are working hard on this game. When Uncommon Valor is done, we will speed up work on the second of the games, "War in the Pacific: Struggle Against Japan", which is on a larger scale. When War in the Pacific is finished, we will work on the third game, which will take place in the Med theatre. Bye... Michael Wood Lead Programmer, Matrix Games

Wow! Terrific WEB site, good info (except for when, of course). It seems to me that this game is a scenario or, more accurately, a section of WitP. Clearly this can be produced more quickly than the full WitP. This allows you to get some income more quickly. It allows us to get started up the learning curve. It allows bugs to be found and fixed before WitP is released. This is good strategy. I like it! Start shipping when....? Paul

Hello... We do not have a release date, yet.

Uncommon Valor is on a bit different scale than war in the Pacific and plays a bit differently. We are hoping for an early release for the former. Although we currently have a playable beta up and running, we still have a lot to add, so it will take at least 3 months or more. As you may know, if you have played Steel Panthers: World at War, we include a lot of features. Bye... So, it's the same only different? Do you mean that this game will have some of the same features as WitP? Or a totally different game engine? It does sound good and 2x3 website is way cool!

T-Mo -> (1/5/2001 10:41:00 AM)

Mike, Having played both Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich, 2 products that G.Grigsby developed for Talonsoft, I'm recognizing right away that at least a portion of that engine is being used for this program. I'm concerned about how much upgrading you guys are doing to improve that engine which had some good points but some bad as well. I know from your work and my slight involvement with SPWAW with WB Wilder that you guys can do wonders with code, just curious on how much of an upgrade from Bombing the Reich this program will be? Thanks and good luck. Count me down for an order. BTW, Are you looking for Beta Testers for this product? T-Mo

Wild Bill -> (1/5/2001 1:18:00 PM)

T-Mo is a good one! Glad to see you here, my friend! Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Hello... Yes, the same, only different.

There are some differences in scale, 30 mile hex, as opposed to 50 mile hex. That means that some roads and bases in Uncommon Valor (UV) will not show up in War in the Pacific (WIP). In UV, each barge and PT boat will have a crew and skipper. In WIP, these tiny boats will be placed in groups of 3 to 6 and have a flotia commander. Land based units will mainly be regiments in UV and divisions in WIP. WIP and UV will also handle political considerations differently. Thanks for Your Question... Hello... I believe Frank Donati will be handling play testing. He can be reached in the "Contact Us" section. I do not know if we will be using external testers or no. Frank is our Bug Master and handles testing for all our games.

The code for these games is all new code and the design, as well. Gary wrote the combat and database code from scratch. Even as I write this, Matrix is completely redesigning the interface. A minute to minute bombing campaign over Europe is not at all like a 12 hour impulse, campaign in the Pacific with air, land and sea elements. As far as Bombing the Reich goes, I have never actually played or even seen it or Battle of Britain. And, I am programming the interface. So, if there are any similarities, they would be coincidental. Thanks for Your Interest... Michael Wood [This message has been edited by Mike Wood (edited January 05, 2001).]

Recon_slith -> (1/5/2001 3:53:00 PM)

The Med, eh? Well, it's about time that theatre got the attention it deserves. One thing's for sure- there won't be much competition from any other game since there aren't any. Massive land based air, convoys, para invasions - oh, YES. ------------------ Wait for Death. There's a choice? Recon

Paul Goodman -> (1/5/2001 9:23:00 PM)

A playable beta? Mike, you should NEVER have let that out. Bar the door, here comes the hounds! Paul

RevRick -> (1/6/2001 9:34:00 AM)

Baaaaaaarrrrrroooooooooooooo! SNIFF! SNIFF! SNIFF! Which way did it Go? Mike, did you say "BETA?" ------------------ God Bless; Rev. Rick, the tincanman

ChrisF -> (1/6/2001 11:14:00 AM)

Michael - I believe so much in what you guys are doing and I've had so much PBEM fun with the re-write of Pacific War, I'll send in money now if it'll help... [This message has been edited by Mike Wood (edited January 06, 2001).]

mogami -> (1/6/2001 11:45:00 AM)

Hi everyone I am very excited over these developments where do I send the money? I always liked GG's earlier games on South Pacific and Med (remember "Bomb Alley") I played the C-64 version of the Guadalcanal Campaign many times. Just tell me how much and when and I am in. ------------------ I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a differant direction!
