Never havng played table top miniatures I`m unclear on how movement-attack works in a non hex board setup.
I assume that each unit is an 8 sided piece and can move and attack in 8 directions only ? If`s that`s true then the center of my units " facing " sides must be near to, or aimed at, the AI unit center " facing " side, like this for an attack to take place:
Center -------->I I<-------Center
However it seems that I have seen an attack work in this configuration where the centers are not in line:
Center --------->I Edge------------/ I <---------Center
Some clarification would be appreciated for us old Hex Based Board game types.
Black Cat I think the best way to picture it is, instead of an hex grid, you have square grid. Units can only attack/move in one sinlge direction, the one they are facing, so you can attack only units you are facing, or be attacked by then, however in the last pahse of a turn some units can reface and attack, so maybe it is that what you saw.
