RobertRasmussen -> Reload problem? (10/13/2004 3:03:25 PM)

It seems that when you save a game and reload it you can get some very strange results:

I wanted to experiment with different naval Allied bombardment techniques so I made all the MUST-bombardments and then saved the game. After experimenting with one technique and seeing the first couple of German attacks I interrupted the AI's turn and reloaded the game to try another. And suddenly all the German units were visible but my own Allied units were not shown except the ones visible to the Germans? I could select and move Allied units but the only got visible when they moved into spotting range of a German unit.

I tried different approaches to see if I could identify the problem and it seems that if you interrupt the AI-opponents turn by clicking on the close-button on the display to the right - where you can play or replay the opponents turn - the computer is stuck in German mode so to speak. And you have to exit the game completely in order to get out of this.

Can anyone recreate this? Is it a bug or intentional or am I doing something completely wrong?

Best regards,
Robert

Robert,

There is a problem when you try to stop the AI's turn before it finishes.

AI seems to either not quite get the word that it's turn is over... or it decides to try return the favor by taking your next turn[;)]

This bug will also occur when following Robert's procedure, you try to start a new game from scratch (only attempted as the Allies so far).

When the Allied Turn 1 starts, all German units are revealed on map though unit information for many remains hidden.

Not a game breaker for those with short term memories! More an irritant, as to start a new game afresh, you need to close the entire program and "Play Normandy" all over again.

One way to overcome this Robert, is to fire a brand new game up and save immediately. This then can be "loaded" again numerously if you don't like the effect of your naval firepower. The dual benefit of course, is that you're also guaranteed no change to the para drops as the paras are already scattered on the ground.

I'm very happy with the speed of both saves and loads in BiN. Lightning fast. I'm also very happy with the speed of turnarounds between turns. Given a full day and some stamina, you could play an entire 32 turn campaign to fruition [>:]

Adam.

Hey JSS and Adam

Thanks for your replies [:)] And I agree: It's certainly no big deal.

Take care,
Robert

Hi Guys,
This should be fixed in the patch.
