Just a quick question. In the manual it states that increasing the DL value of an enemy unit aids in inflicting damage on them in combat. Does this work with Naval Bombardments and Air stikes against ground units??? The reason I ask is I haven't really found a use for the float planes on the BB's and CA's, other than ASW as they don't have that long a range so naval search isn't that useful, but if I can get better results by putting them on recon then I'll have found their place. I also believe this was what they were intended for anyway.... Thanks CTID98

I tend to use the single float planes for Recon and the twos and threes for Naval Search/ASW Patrol (on 50%). Recon before a bombardment/invasion does seem to help with results but I couldn't prove it. The only problem is that the slow and fragile float planes get shot down a lot more than proper recon planes ...

I have been playing with this idea as well lately and without specific proof I would say that it does aid in attacks.. Not sure on naval bombardments, but on arty and air raids it has seemed to certainly help... Xargun

I send recon with air strikes now and before major land combat... Like I said before I can't prove it helps, but in my opinion all of my attacks with the aid of recon seem to be better. Xargun

About a month ago this question was asked- I don't remember by who or where the message is now- but the general replies were recons and DL aid all forms of attacks particularly ground attacks. I remember Mogami saying "It is one of the most over-looked aspects of games and AAR." So keep 'em flying. Sharkosaurus rex
