Has anyone been following the upgrade to the old Battles of Napoleon SSI game? I came across it today. I thought BoN was one of the best tactical napoleonic games ever made. It was more primitive in graphics than John Tiller's Battleground games but it had more complexity and better AI, IMO. It looks like they are going to do a campaign game as well using 10km per hex.

Curious where you found the information as I found the original to be a good game with a decent AI, main shortcoming being a need for more scenarios. I would be curious to look at what they are doing with it.

Opps sorry. Too busy cooking and not posting links.

The forum link says "Visit the Matrix Games Forums (coming soon)" ? !! [X(]

Looks very promising from the screenies.

BTW, an interesting first post. Friend "Chef" may know a little more than he is letting on, I think ? - or maybe just my conspiracy paranoia in overdrive [;)]

EDIT: Ah ha.. programmed by Frank Hunter ! All is revealed [:D] To me anyway, I guess this is old news to those who have played CotD a lot more than I have ?

I wish I did know more than I was letting on but I don't. I had another loggin at Matrix but its been so long since I had anything of interest to post I forgot my darn username and password...so I had to create new ones to post.

Anyway, the old BoN game can be downloaded here if anyone would like to take a look at it. The original game was created by David Landrey and Chuck Kroegel. From what I can see it looks like they are keeping most of the original game's characteristics intact.

I have seen CotD and I was thinking of getting it for Christmas. Is it a game you do or do not recommend getting? What does Frank Hunter's involvement reveal to you? I don't know his reputation as a programmer.

Thanks,

Chef

P.S. If it makes you feel more comfortable you can envision me writing this e-mail from inside a black helicopter silently hovering outside of your house. In reality I am sitting in an office cubicle at a hospital with paperwork overwhelming my desk.

How is the Campaigns on the Danube?

I've looked at it several times but so far decided against getting it. Any comments from people playing it?
