tanker4145 -> LCU's and HQ's and disabled squads (10/28/2004 6:14:29 PM)

Okay, let me start by saying that I have seen the answer on the forums before, but can't find it now. My question is will a land unit on an island base that is of a different HQ then the base, still repair disabled squards and recieve replacements? I'm at work and don't have the manual either and want to find the answer for some planning I'm doing in my head. Here's an example:

I have a division at Nomeau that was full strenght with no disabled squads when it embarked. Now over half the squads are disabled. The Division belongs to SW Pac, while the base belongs to South Pac HQ. The division doesn't seem to be fixing any disabled squads, especially compared to other units I have there. I have plenty of supply, over 60,000. So is the HQ attachment the issue or is it just me? By the way I've been checking for over a week. Thanks a ton.

Yes it will - but it will do it slowly. BUT I believe you need to have sufficient support for the entire unit before disabled portions are repaired - so if all you have on the base is that division, it will probably only repair itself up to its support limit AND it will take a long time..

If the LCU is on an island, I believe you won't get any replacements for it unless the command HQ of the base is on the island as well. Replacements have to trace a land LOC .

Nikademus -> RE: LCU's and HQ's and disabled squads (10/28/2004 7:53:48 PM)

is the base in a temperate zone? or Malarial?

I have a Japanese Div recupperating at Truk after assaulting Lunga, and it is repairing and refitting out just fine. (albeit very slowly.....thats one aspect that gets short shrift in all the "rapid combat discussion"....an LCU, esp a large one takes many weeks even in good supply to repair all those disabled units)

tanker4145 -> RE: LCU's and HQ's and disabled squads (10/28/2004 8:39:19 PM)

Yes it's on an island, Nomeau. And it's not with it's paretn HQ. The main thing I wondered is the disabled/disbanded squads not repairing, or at least extrememly slow...I haven't been watching close enough to notice.

Nikademus -> RE: LCU's and HQ's and disabled squads (10/28/2004 9:30:26 PM)

it is verrrrrrrrrrry slow. the 16th Imperial Japanese division, now christiened the Marine u DIE! divisions....has been sitting there over a month and it still has a good number of disabled squads. I've noticed that support squads in particular take FOREVER to repair.

You do have the unit set to "accept replacements" too, right?

tanker4145 -> RE: LCU's and HQ's and disabled squads (10/28/2004 11:34:46 PM)

Yes they are set to accept replacements. I guess that brings up the question--does shipping an LCU from the West Coast to Nomeau cause squads to get disabled? Because I'm about 90% sure it had none before it sailed.

Either way, thanks for the answers. I guess they'll get to chill a while and build up before I send them to the meat grinder that is Guadacanal! [:)]

I believe shipping a unit only causes fatigue / disruption - the longer the trip the more it causes... BUT... very few units in the game have enough support to support themselves - so you are most likely suffering from lack of support - which will disable squads... Check the unit and see how much support it provides... and how much does it need. I bet the Need is in red indicating not enough.. The unit will lose squads / weapons until it can support itself.

The unit has plenty of support. I must have shipped it with the disabled squads then. I can't imagine that I'd ship a division that has 2/3rd of it's squads disabled, but I probably did. The only thing is the division was sitting in San Fran. for a long time before I shipped it and it was accepting replacements. Oh well, I'll watch more carefully in the future to see what the deal is.

Thank you for the answers though, they were helpful.

shipping causes fatigue only. Longer the time in the ship...the greater the fatigue.
