ORIGINAL: UncleBuck RUPD, the book for Starship troopers is far different from the movie. I was almost disgusted enough to walk out of the movie. The Book is not nearly the Authoritarian model the movie puts forth. I have thought of being a History teacher since I was 8 or 9 years old. I went to college to major in History and environmental sciences (Geology and Oceanography) but ran out of money. I joined the USN and then got out in 1996. I haven't been back to school yet but I keep meaning to. I would love to teach, and I do tell good stories. I do not think I could handle to pay cut, nor the nearly work for free issue for an intern. The politics and such also drive me nuts. But, I keep coming back to it, and many of my Teacher friends think I would be good at it. Also take a look at my Sig line as for my feelings on Heinlien eh tovarich? UB TANSTAAFL! Now I get the quote! Was just on the Netflix website and saw that they made a Starship Troopers 2. I guess the review will read "Hit rock bottom and just kept on digging" There is also an animated series based on the book entitled "Roughnecks". It got better reviews so I may add it to my list. Every good teacher needs some videos to keep the class occupied on the days you want to kick back. In the police academy I show Dirty Harry movies during use of force training and clips from the Blues Brothers during pursiut/emergency response training.
