huhrlass -> Norwegian Campaign Date Mistake? (11/3/2004 12:26:39 AM)

I am playing the SPWAW version 8.30 and I am currently playing the Norwgian scenario of 1940. I just started the scenario from december 1940 that contains 30 turns and its an Advance scenario. I noticed that the game has a date of 12/49. Alos, when purchasing units all the late model armour units were available, has anyone come across this? I will try to buy units again to see if it happens

thanks
Howard

hi rockin harry

Its the norwegian campaign from 8.30 and i think its the third-5th scenario in the progression. I noticed it b/c when I wanted to purchase armor for the Germans the Panther Tank was available, Elefent etc. Plus, when starting the scenario it had a date of 12/49. I of course kept all my units the same with airborne, some engineers, and pzIII and pzIvd's. The aux units also provided in the scenario looked like from the 1940 year but the option to buy the late 1940 era units seems a bit strange. Thanks for looking at it and maybe someone else will come across the same thing

Major Destruction -> RE: Norwegian Campaign Date Mistake? (11/5/2004 6:28:53 PM)

Your original post prompted me to start the campaign. Game one was very well done. The maps are excellent, the length of the game was more than sufficient and I scored a DV with minor losses. I thought my core force too large. I had more than enough units to get the job done. I could have done as well with half the original core force size..

Game two started with a shock but again I have too many units for my liking. I can afford to use a reserve company to bring up the rear for use only in an emergency. Maybe the British contingent will force my hand? Anyhow the campaign has attracted my attention. It is very good so far.

The problem with the 1949 date probably results from the designer buying from the 1949 scenario designer menu then forgetting to reset the date correctly before saving the scenario. It is easily fixed if you open the offending scenario in the scenario editor, then save the scenario with the correct date.

thanks major,

i agree with you a good scenario but a lot of points for forces, it looks like your correct witht eh 1949 date and I 'll most likely keep it at 49 unless i go to the editor. its actually a nice campaign due to the use of airborne troops, amphibious troops etc.
thanks

As I progressed in the game the date went back to 1940 so it was prob just a typo mistake in the scenario

RockinHarry -> RE: Norwegian Campaign Date Mistake? (11/16/2004 4:42:07 PM)

Sorry, It seems its nowhere mentioned [X(] The norway OOB is split in a way that normal norway units go from 1930 to 1948 (!!!) and the special scenario designer units in 1949 only! So if you just want to play some norway campaign, donŽt go beyond 1948![;)] The split was to avoid internal OOB problems (mixing up standard norway units with scenario designer stuff).
