South/Central Pacific Front -12/1: The Kido Butai leaves Peleliu and take refuge in Manila and Kure. -12/1: Heavy fighting on Saipan and Tinian. DEI/Philippine front -12/7: The aussies arrive in force to Waingapu, the base is undefender and take at once. -12/16: A allied surface group with 7 heavy cruisers, 4 light and eight destroyers bombard Kendari base without problems. 25 japanese planes are destroyed and four merchants are sunk. -12/21: Allied amphibious assault against Kendari. The 43th USA INF DIV and the 7th Aussie INF DIV sparhead the attack. The base is secured the christmas day.
