The final reality check is almost concluded. I'm really glad we stopped to do it. <snip, snip, snip > To make a horribly long and painful story short, there was a nasty bug in a third party library that I was using that crashed the game on startup 90% of the time on a _dual CPU_ machine. Go figure! I chased approximately a bazillion loose ends over nearly 12 weeks before I traced it down to that yesterday, but I was darned if I was going to release the game until I knew exactly what was going on. As it happens, dual CPU computers are not that common generally, but my latest group of playtesters had two and that was enough to stop the show. Oh yes, and they really did a magnificent job of finding the last few oversights to nail down and tidy up. The game is even better now than it was in July. The esteemed Mike Eckenfels used the extra time to do a really smashing job on the user manual. I need to review it over the next couple of days and make sure it is just so, and then it is up to Maurice and David to set the final countdown. I am hugely relieved that this last step has been reached. Onwards and upwards! Cheers, Rob.
