KG Erwin -> The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 7:14:10 AM)

So far, I've picked two of the most terrifying sounds in the game--(3)--this is the generic sound for a rocket barrage, the "Screeming Meemies". Yikes! (300)--this one makes me cringe--this is the LOUD flamethrower. It is simply horrifying. I love it when I have these in my arsenal, but, Jeez, it's the worst thing I can possibly imagine doing to another human being. Flamethrower operators must have had some major-league cojones to perform that job.

You guys have any others that sound particularly scary? There's another one for me--Japanese sound 719--the banzai charge--that always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Huffy -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 9:15:08 AM)

I agree with the flame thrower...alot.... and the other that sends my enemy running behind a hill is a 150mm or higher direct fire type shot...
take care,
Huffy

Wild Bill -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 10:23:51 AM)

The first time I ever heard the "mine explosion" sound, I almost jumped out of my chair! That one will really stun you the first time around. You never quite get used to it.

Probably the next one is that shouting, screaming melee sound that comes from a bayonet attack. I like that one. It means some hard close in fighting.

By the way, Huffy, I got your messages and tried to write you but evidently your e-mail address has changed. My mail was returned. I you have a new e-mail address, send it to me.

Thanks a lot for checking on me. I'm doing okay.

Wild Bill

KG Erwin -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 11:03:54 AM)

Bill, I know you love those infernal mines. Yeah, they are scary, especially when you place them. "Hey, Biff, I found a steaming pot of rice...let me step over here and...." < BOOOM!> [X(]

KG Erwin -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 11:12:32 AM)

Bill, you're up early on a Saturday morning--I'm pulling an all-nighter.

Huffy -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 11:18:00 AM)

K G ...my friends and I pulled a all nighter last night...then just went black Friday shopping at a few stores..
Hope you have as much fun as we did....
Huffy

Toivo -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 2:00:58 PM)

Only thing that makes me jump is still mines going off[:'(] Especially so when early in the morning ha!

Wild Bill -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/27/2004 9:49:09 PM)

Thanks, KG. I'm dong fine. Off to deal with this little part time job.

You are right, guys. One is simply moving along, all is quiet on the front, and then "BOOM" [X(] !

WB

m10bob -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/28/2004 2:29:13 PM)

For me,it's the recieving end of an MG 42 where none was expected,(up close).
Worse still is same as the above, and STILL not spotted!

M4Jess -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/29/2004 4:24:02 AM)

"squeak SQUEAK squeak"

Its been around for years..and it still sounds like a bug in heat!

and what should I replace it with?

Jess

Jess, didn't Losqualo or Rockin Harry post some new Russian weapons sounds at the Depot? They are an improvement over the ones in-game.

Belisarius -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/29/2004 7:38:46 PM)

1) MINES! (never get used to that BANG!)
2) Flame throwers (impending doom)
3) .50 cals (I hate that sound! bambambambambam bambambambambam)

Wimpiest sound?

50mm mortars - pju pju pju piff piff piff... [:'(]

KG Erwin -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/29/2004 7:47:48 PM)

Here's another scary one--a fighter-bomber diving in to strafe and bomb the hell outta your troops. This ain't no "Washing-Machine Charlie" comin' at you. [X(]

Gallo Rojo -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (11/30/2004 3:32:19 AM)

1- Katyushkas
2- 88s
3- Japanese Sqds in mele (when they say "banzai!"... but I never play against them but with them, so there's no real fear here [:'(])

Since things are slow here, I thought I'd revisit this old thread. One of SPWaW's strongest attributes is the variety of sound FX that are offered. At latest count, I have 728 sound files in my SND folder--others may have more. I also dumped many of the snd files from Panzer Leo's H2H into this folder, too. He added some good ones for German arty.

Just for fun, I loaded the entire file into my WMP, and played through some of them--there are some great snd files that I've not familiar with.

So, if you're looking for something to do, and aren't afraid of waking up the family or the neighbors, just cycle through these --you'll find some surprises.

Orzel Bialy -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (4/23/2005 5:55:16 PM)

Mines...especially when you are playing late at night...and you pop one of those things! [X(]

tracer -> RE: The Scariest Weapons Sounds (4/30/2005 10:22:20 PM)

One that startles me (besides mines!) is this 40mm AA sound I ran across and used in SPWAW on my old computer: http://www.streamload.com/jimnsb/SPWAW/40mm.wav

(sorry, I don't recall the associated sound-file numbers needed to plug this into SPWAW)

Wow, Jim, that's a good one. In the snd files, the 40mm AA is 918.
