RBWhite -> Uninstalling SPWAW 8.20 or 8.30 (12/4/2004 6:08:51 PM)

The uninstaller, iun6002 [Indigo Rose] always crashes, I have to perform uninstall twice in add and remove in control panel

iun600 also does not remove itself from the Windows directory, and has to been manually deleted.

Does anyone else have this problem?

You asked me this in another thread. No I can't say that I've had this problem, but I've seen that blankscreen issue. Did you inherit all the issues?

RBWhite -> RE: Uninstalling SPWAW 8.20 or 8.30 (12/22/2004 3:48:40 AM)

No, but I'm attempting to keep it current and hoping others who have this problem will someday get a solution from Matrix

Ya, I haven't really been online in a long time, so it helps to have the post on the top.

I too am having trouble uninstalling SPWaW8.2 (nothing wrong with the great game, just that I don't have the time as I wish to play it much anymore). It tells me it cannot load the initialization file.

When I DLed the game I burned the installation program to disk but installed it on my HD, yet I get this error message when uninstalling.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

RocknRoland

Check in the Windows directory and see if you can locate a filed named iun6002. Thats the uninstaller for SPWAW. If it is not there that is why you can not uninstall SPWAW 8.20 or 3.0. WinXP Home Edition had or still has a Runtime problem with Indigorose uninstaller. So make sure you do have all the current auto updates.

I found the problem for me went away after I purchased WinXP Professional and got rid of XP Home Edition and recieved all the updates for Professional.

Try downloding SPWAW 8.20 & 8.30 again to the hard drive and reinstall both from the hard drive. Then try uninstalling again. You may have to attempt too uninstall twice.

Are you guys trying to dump the game or just clear the registry for a fresh install?

RocknRoland -> RE: Uninstalling SPWAW 8.20 or 8.30 (1/26/2005 6:03:20 AM)

I am trying to clear room off my HD. I still wish to keep the game for later (hence the burning to disk) but I have three files in my Windows directory.

iun6002.exe version 6.0.1.2
iun6002.exe version 6.0.1.3
iun6002ev.exe version 6.0.0.4

Should I drop these and do the reinstall as suggested so I do not have multiple iun6002 files?

I will go ahead for now and DL the game again and hold off doing anything else till I hear further instructions.

By the way...it is on a Win98SE system

Thank you for your time and help.

I would delete those three iun6002 files and reinstall SPWAW 8.20 & 8.30 from the hard drive & recheck Windows again to see that you have iun6002.exe, version 6.0.1.4, you should be able to uninstall SPWAW.

KG: He just wants to dump SPWAW off his hard drive and I think when he installed form a burned copy it didn't overwrite or copy the uninstaller to his drive.

He also must have been playing SPWAW along time to have the other three uninstallers still on his machine. For some reason when you uninstall SPWAW it does not remove the uninstaller from Windows

Thank you so much for your help. I done as you said and it uninstalled on the first try.

I saw something previously about having it burned on disk. Is this a potential problem? I do want to retain the game (the best and most in depth strategy game I know of for freeware and thoroughly enjoy playing it) for a later install so I would like to have it burned on disk.

Again thanks for your time and expertise.

RocknRoland

Burn the two compressed programs [SPWAW 8.20 & 8.30] to disk to save them.

Copy them from the burnt disk back to the hard drive when you want to reinstall them and then uncompress them.

Also I use Winrar 3.41 to uncompress downlaoded files, I like it better than Winzip 9.0

If you want to try it, you can get it at rarlab.com

I will do just that.

Thanks a lot Rick
