zowee77 -> Maximum Football Release Date (12/7/2004 9:10:58 PM)

Any update as to when Maximum Football will be released? Is Matrix still on schedule to release it prior to Christmas.

Clipper1968 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/7/2004 9:41:07 PM)

Is this a wargame???[&:][&:][&:]
I suppose it is related to American football...[:D][:D][:D]

zowee77 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/7/2004 9:49:08 PM)

Actually the game is focused on (mainly) the CFL, NFL and Arena football but from my understanding really the game is only limited to your imagination within of course the realm of Canadian/American football.

freeboy -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/8/2004 1:47:01 AM)

IE not soccer... the other Football that most of the worlkd enjoys!

It would not surprise me that this would come out after the season! but as a non sports game person, this is actually one that I may like, I like US football, but all the game seem too much like arcade style, not my thing, and wish for a more cereberal experience

zowee77 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/8/2004 4:58:01 AM)

Maximum Football is a football strategy game from what I have been told. It is not a arcade game like the Madden series. I have played several football (soccer) games such as Championship Manager and my personal favorite Total Club Manager which I had to by from Europe. If you like either of these games I can almost guarantee you that you will like Maximum Football.

freeboy -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/8/2004 9:05:52 AM)

picking plays, adgusting defense, I am somewhat knowledgable about the sport and would love a "coaches" perspective game... different weather and field condition etc...
does anyone know if there is a tentative release date?

Clipper1968 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/8/2004 2:15:23 PM)

So it is much more likely a management game...where you are the manager of a football team???
You plan the strategies and tactics for your team before each game, select the players, make the recruitment, the transfer, submit an economical development strategy, increase the stadium size,...
Am I correct???[&:]

RBWhite -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/8/2004 2:28:58 PM)

It's a Non-Continental thing

Yes, it has some of that. But it's also a graphical football game where you coach your team on the field as they run the plays you've designed. Or you can pick up your Gravis game pad and play in arcade mode similar to NFL Fever 2000 for the PC.

To see what the game is all about there is a lot of information at the current official website http://www.maximum-football.com there are screen shots and FAQ's and everything you'd need to know.

Maliki -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/11/2004 10:41:34 AM)

Must get this game.

It's like a dream come true with the features listed.Creating leagues, teams, players, rules.I never thought i would see this day*sniffle*

I always wondered why no one had attempted this before and your FAQs section helped clear that up.

Now it will be the waiting thats the hardest part.

All I want for Christmas is....Maximum-Football

Flashpoint Germany wouldn't be bad either[;)]

CFLColts -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/12/2004 5:32:32 AM)

You think that if we continue to keep this thread at the top of the list matrix will hear our voice and release the game.

22sec -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/12/2004 7:11:24 PM)

We can only hope[:D]

zowee77 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/12/2004 8:33:44 PM)

Does anyone have any idea when Maximum Football will be released? Here we are a week before Christmas and many people want to buy this game for members of their family and it appears it is still not available. Another concern which I think has been mention previously is the fact that their is no mention of the game by a press release or that it is coming soon which makes me wonder if the game will even be out before the end of this year. What is the status of this game, will it be available this week?

Marathon -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/13/2004 5:45:37 PM)

I did not even realize Matrix was publishing this game. Oooh.

rhondabrwn -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/13/2004 7:56:08 PM)

A bit of old board wargaming history.

SPI published a tactical football simulation called "Scrimmage" in their Strategy & Tactics Game Magazine.

At the time, they justified having it in a Military History magazine because of the tactical and strategic similarities between the game of Football and warfare.

That game wasn't real popular, but it was an interesting approach to treat a sporting game in this fashion. Players were individual counters with unique "combat" factors that were then applied against the "enemy" players (units) within their adjacent hexes and so forth.

Not that I play sports games, but I assume that behind the code Madden reflects something very similar.

So... Maximum Football certainly belongs in the Matrix stable from my point of view!

CFLColts -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/13/2004 9:57:02 PM)

Making the decision on Monday. If it helps I would certainly be ready to download it today.

Don't leave out Avalon Hill. They had a whole line of Statis Pro titles... Baseball, Football, etc. Believe they even got the Sports Illustrated backing on the box with most of them but I forget. No longer have any of them.

zowee77 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/14/2004 2:58:04 AM)

Does anyone remember which Avalon Hill game simulated WWIII? I recall one in particular but it has been many years since I played it. I used to play one that was a basketball simulation. I actually thought it was great. I also was one of the brave souls that played Powers and Perils but had a hard time trying to find anyone that wanted to play it due to the complexity.

The Statis Pro titles were acquired by Avalon Hill and weren't developed by them. The link to Sports Illustrated came a little later too.

Initially, they did have a Baseball game (I forget the exact title) which was designed by Thomas Shaw to reflect his coaching style for the Avalon Hill team that played in the local league! It was part of their "Family / Social" line of games that included "Air Empire" and "Management" and a railroad simulator called "Dispatcher" (a really fun little game). I got a lot of mileage out of "Air Empire" too.

Actually I think you will find that worldwide there is more support for "Football" i.e.soccer than there is for American Football.

So throw us a bone while we're waiting! [;)]

zowee77 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/14/2004 7:22:18 PM)

No doubt you are correct, in fact I wish that soccer was more popular in North America. At least it seems to be gaining more of an audience at present. Just like everything else though what is big in one country is not nearly as popular in another. But I do agree, on the level of world wide their is no comparison to the popular appeal of soccer ( or football as stated in most other countries).

turk96 -> RE: Maximum Football Release Date (12/14/2004 8:45:54 PM)

So...in other words there's a delay on setting the delayed release date of an unbelievably delayed game? Of course, the last release date given on this game (provided by the developer in PC Gamer) was Feb. 2004. Let's hope this one is a little more accurate.
