mbillett -> How do I disable the closing splash screen? (12/13/2004 10:52:42 PM)

A small point, anyone know how do I disable the splash screen which occurs on exiting BiN. I guess alot of you might have never seen it because you haven't shut BiN down yet [:)], but now I know Italy is the next campaign area I wouldn't mind getting rid of it. Had a look but I cannot see anything obvious.

Thanks,

Matt

A single click on the splash closes it. That's what I use.

on that same tip > why and a large movie and pdf that are not related to the game get bundled with BIN?
it s 35.5 mb of unneeded overhead no?

If you're referring to the Alienware video and the Armchair General preview, these are not unneeded overhead. We have deals with both of these companies that result in greater promotion for our games, including Battles In Normandy. The additional 30 or so megabytes results in increased sales and thus a stronger community and a greater chance of the series continuing. While I'd love to be able to make the installers even smaller, doing something that hurts the marketing of the game for a small reduction in size is not worth it.

If it's not possible to disable it and only to abort it can you please consider making this small change in a future update. Now I know you are producing a game based on the Italian campaign do I really need reminding each time I exit BiN? I bought the game and do not expect to be forced to watch some advertising each and every time. A bit like Dell advertising there inkjet cartridges each time you print, but not quite as bad [;)]

The closing ad screen was a decision made by SSG. With that said, I think that in general it's not a bad idea (wargames can always use a bit more promotion) but I understand that having a way to disable it for the long term would be handy and less annoying for customers. I'm sure we'll discuss this again for future releases.

I have pictures on my hard drive bigger than that.

Also try to be fair, the game has the record on my PC for the fastest load time. This game just flat out loads quick!
