ZonkerHarris -> Intermediate Japanese player seeks opponent for Scenario 15 (12/18/2004 2:23:46 AM)

OK, I think I'm ready to take the Japanese side in PBEM, and I'm looking for an opponent. I'm neither a newbie nor an expert, and would prefer an opponent at roughly the same level. I'd suggest the following settings:

Two-day turns.
Fog of war: On
Sub doctrines: Both off
Allied Damage Control: On
Weather: On
Historic first turn: Off
First turn surprise: On
Variable start: Off
Variable reinforcements: Off

And a few house rules:

-- Only 1 port attack on turn 1.
-- Allies don't move on turn 1, except the Enterprise and Lexington TFs.
-- Night bombing limited to naval attack or manpower missions (except for designated night units).
-- ASW TFs limited to 8 ships.

All of which is subject to discussion. I'd like to average a turn a day or better, but understand that real life has a way of intruding. I may also post some thoughts in an AAR.

PM or email me if interested, and may the best Co-Prosperity Sphere win!

You might want to loosen up those house rules a little.

Try, Allied only gives orders to China, and created TF's. All others are stuck in place with current orders. Also try limiting night bombing to night capable units only ie the Blenheim IF. At least until it is toned down some.

Good points -- especially about China. I'm fine with the Allies giving orders there. (And I should point out that I don't intend to try the strategy of steamrolling the USSR and China, since I'm not at all sure that the latest changes have fixed that problem.)

I'm not sure what to do about night bombing. I'd agree that night fighter units can do as they please at night, but don't know enough about how strong other units are. Have there been problems with B-17s flying manpower attacks? I don't think I've seen any posted, but could have missed some. I was mostly worried about night attacks on ports and airfields, which is where I'd heard about problems.

But everything is negotiable, I'm a fairly flexible guy.

I'm game for most of your house rules, other than the two-day turns. (I don't want to give you two free days plastering Pearl, so I prefer 1 day turns. <g>)

The only other thing I ask is that you turn off auto-sub ops - its such a pain when the AI keeps on sending subs where I don't want them to go.

I'll be away for the Christmas weekend, but I may have internet mail access (I don't know for sure yet) and I'll be at home the following week so I'll be able to do a fair number of turns then. Otherwise I can almost always do a turn a day and usually more.
