Terminus Est -> Japanese Carrier Loadouts (12/31/2004 1:11:16 AM)

Hi,

I'm sorry for posting this question here, but since only people who have a game in progress past June '42 can reply to it, I thought I'd give it a try ... all my apologies for disrupting the AAR threads [:(]

Here's the question : the pdf manual says on page 214 that japanese carrier loadouts, starting from July 1, 1942, switch (from 1/3 each) to 3/8 each of fighters, dive bombers and torpedo bombers. Only problem is that makes 9/8, which seems a bit odd.

So, could someone who is currently playing the japanese after July 1, 1942 correct this apparently erroneous information?

Many thanks in advance,

Terminus Est.

I think it's 3/8 fighters and divebombers and 2/8 torpedo bombers. But, I don't play the Japanese so I'm not 100% sure. Either the manual is wrong, or you read it wrong. But, it doesn't add more planes than the carrier can handle.

I play as the Japanese and their CV loadouts will adjust.

Basically 28 or so fighters, about 20 DB's and 20 TB's for the big CV's. I do not remember the exact loadout in the one PBEM game that went into Aug 42 before a bug killed us.

It could be a little more a/c of each type though. It will almost always be below the CV's max a/c capacity though. I have yet to see a CV loaded out to it's max capacity.

Depends on a CV and doesn't really conern you. The 9/8 will never happen and what ever you get you will get. Most important thing is you'll never be in a situation when your CVs are ovverloaded. My experiance says Japs always try to keep the same amount of all three types and if they have a smaller amount of anything it's the torpedo bombers.
Good hunting.
