mucky -> Advice on Invasion? (12/31/2004 10:39:01 PM)

Im working on plans for my first offensive operation as the allies.

An attack on the gilbertIsland...My invasion force has been assemble at baker island. Im almost ready for a Simultaneous (sp?) attack on the three islands...but my question is should i land the INF alone in the first wave? Or should the first wave contain ENG?

Combat Engineers will knock down fortification levels faster. [;)]

use troops/tanks/arty in first wave Land Eng after secure unless up against fortifications then land Combat Eng in second wave make sure you have CA CL in TF they will help against
Coastal Guns Defences Scout areas before landing Also have a Supply TF standing off ready to supply invasion forces

Bombard Bombard Bombard before landing

By the way you can land on any coastal hex (no coastal defences to worry about) then march to target hex- supply penalty do this again have Supply ship in landing TF this time to set up supply beach head

Yes but dont forget to turn destroyers off if you dont they get sunk up againt coastal defences - if you have carrier support use them as well

Try about a month before you land. You are going against Atolls. They can be really brutal if the other player has fortified the beejeebers out of it.

Like me.

You are safe then.

Against an devious human, you have to prepare for the worst case scenario. Fort 9, a division there and KB just over the hill.

I have seen quite a few people looking for a Japanese player. I do not see why everyone shy's away from the Japanese.

I think it is the production that put people off..at the moment i have a japanese game against the A.I and im finding it difficult. Im having trouble pushing into the DEI. All i need is more practice.
