WWII -> Question about carreier trained air group, thanks. (1/1/2005 9:42:23 AM)

My carrier was ambushed and none of the air groups survived. I get my carrier back to home base and transfer some carrier capable air groups to it. But none of the air groups fighte during the next battle (they don't take off at all). My question is:

IS that true only carrier trained air group fights from a carrier? How do I make new carrier capable air group to replace the orignal air trained air group, which does not exist any more?

Thanks.

I've never lost an airgroup and saved the carrier in the same time, but I guess this will be like with any other air unit, they will return into the game in a year or so. Just check aircraft reinforcement schedule, sort it by squadron name or aircraft type and search for missing groups.
There are two types of squadrons in the game that can go on carriers: Carrier trained, which are supposed to fly from carriers all the time (but can fly from land bases as well) and carrier capable, which can be put on carriers and will fly from them, but with increased operational losses.
Note few things:
- Your carrier won't be able to launch strike if it's combined damage is greater than 50% (sys+float+fire)
- Your carrier won't be able to launch strike if number of planes onboard exceeds 110% of it's capacity. So if you use Soryu that can have 63 planes, don't go over 69. They will fly with 69 onboard, but not with 70...
Also check orders for those airgroups, are they set on escort duty with CAP or something else?
Hope this helps.

Carrier Trained = group that enters play ON a CV/CVL/CVE

Carrier Capable = group that enters play NOT on a CV/CVL/CVE but can be used from them as it has the required gear

Neither = Boat anchor that can be transported on a ship as cargo. It will *not* fly.
