Where did you get 11 Jan for the fall of Kendari? I got 24 Jan according to "War Maps from Sept 39 to Aug 45" by Simon Goodenough OK. I got my data from "The Second World War in the Far East" by H. P. Willmott, pg12, (chronology section, The Indies 1941-45): Entry for 11 Jan reads "J. secure Manado, Kendari, and Sandakan 17th." I stopped there. I did not see this entry for the 24th: "J landings on Kendari." until you asked me to verify. Sigh. Apparently a poor editing job. I reverified using "World War II, Day by Day" by Donald Sommerville, pg 118: Entry for 24 January 1942 reads as follows: "East Indies Four Dutch and American destroyers attack the Japanese transports off Balikpapan, sinking five ships. There are Japanese landings at Kendari in the Celebes where an important airfield is captured." Oops. Thanks for the catch.
