I have several units in the ABDA/DEI area that have upgraded from P-40B to P-40E now. I checked my a/c pool and I have 200+ P-40Bs just sitting around. Is there any way to use these planes?? I have heard talk of changing the upgrade path, but haven't found how to do that in the manual yet (is there an updated manual?) - what I'd like to do is get my Wirraway & Buffalo units to use the better aircraft. Of course, its Aug42 and they are still getting kills, but mostly against bombers. Heck, if nothing else I'd like to resupply the Buffalo units with surplus USN F2As (about 100) and maybe upgrade those B-10As with excess B-17Cs or even B-18As. There's gotta be a way or the pool wouldn't be in the game.

Changing the upgrade path is a feature for the next release (hopefully) Michael

Also please be aware that while the Americans and Australians can upgrade their air units right away (depending upon availability of aircraft of course), the British cannot upgrade their stuff until May of '42, and the Dutch are restricted from upgrading until June (or July?) of '42... That can feel like a long time during the body slaming season you go through.

And one of the 4 supply requirements is met, sometimes difficult in early 42 in OZ.

The Army fighter units (minus P26s) in the PI, West Coast, and North will upgrade to the 40b. Other than that, the Buffs and Wirraways will not due to the hardcoded upgrade paths in the game. If they implement the changes posted in the next patch, then we may be able to downgrade to use up some of the older models but not in version 1.4!

Are you sure? In scen 15 the 34th FS (in the PI w/P-35s) upgrages to the P-39 and all the units in the North & West Coast Cmnds starting out with P-36s upgrade to the P-40E.

It's Mid-August 42, and I just got a P-36A FG that is scheduled to upgrade to a P-40B group. I have plenty of P-40Bs but it won't upgrade in either LA or Seattle. Maybe if I ship them to PH they will upgrade there. This is one of my issues with having 200+ P-40Bs in the aircraft pool and not being able to assign them. Perhap v1.50 will let me do that, even if I have to spend the PP to do so.
