Tanaka -> Base Aviation Support Bug!!! (1/13/2005 11:24:45 PM)

See Cooktown: Says there are 16120 Second Line Troops there but there are none. Save has been sent.

No troops there but says it has 540 Aviation Support there.

Do you actually have the 227 planes there that it says you do? It could be that somehow you might be getting partial info on other hexes.

This looks like it might be a mop-mod. Is it? I would direct your questions to A. Brown (?), then.

yes my planes are there and falling apart. i thought i had the support but they are not there. no map mod. just standard game scenario 15 vs 1.4.

i am using andrew browns lcu movement mod but this is not supposed to affect the map or game.

I have seen what might be the same thing twice, once against AI and once PBEM. In my case, I'm pretty sure that I ran into the disappearing unit bug the second time, and I'm guessing the first as well.

I had air transported 1 Base force to Legaspi, and some weeks or months later, 1 Base force is nowhere to be found. Perhaps I did something with a remnant that triggered a problem. But for sure if I go into the ground force listing, 1Base is nowhere on the map, and trust me - none of my units were wiped out in combat (Japan, first month or two of the war).

Anyway, 1 base had disappeared from Legaspi but the base screen still claimed the av support was there. I don't recall if there was a troop count or not as well. At first, I thought I really still had the av support despite the problem but as you found out it's not really there. I eventually had to bring in another BF to get my planes out.

I just had that happen at Emirau Island. My RAF base group, with 200+ av sup pts has disappeared from the base roster, but the support is still there. It still shows up in the overall army roster and is still located there. I would like to get it back so I can send them back to Oz for R&R before I move them forward as the war progresses.

CoolDog -> RE: Base Aviation Support Bug!!! (1/17/2005 10:26:05 AM)

My bet is that you have moved them to cooktown peicemea via airlift or APD and when the last fragment arrived the unit disappeared. The troops still show as you say but have no effect and can't be contacted. Its the bug thats been around from the start , you have to be very careful moving units in segments.

yes they were airlifted.

Kinda useful info to leave out [:D]

So we are talking about a vanishing unit due to air transport here, not a base unit that vanished on it's own ... different problem ...

sorry lots going on here. i airlifted some units to cooktown. and shipped some out on transport from cooktown to port moresby. so it could be airlift or boat transport or both. i dont know. i didnt catch it until later.... [:(]

Understood, looking at the problem, it very much reminds me of air transport where the unit actually finishes off the transport and vanishes from the base even though it is still at the base when you look at the numbers.

This is one of those mystery bugs ... it's fixed then it's broken then it's fixed then it's broken.

I assume you were using C-47's ...

dtravel -> RE: Base Aviation Support Bug!!! (1/18/2005 12:50:10 AM)

If it keeps breakin', then it ain't fixed! [:'(]

Tankerace -> RE: Base Aviation Support Bug!!! (1/18/2005 12:51:07 AM)

Sounds like a case for Duck brand duct tape.

Until they think of chewing their own arms off to get away.
