Does anyone set "future objectives" before entering combat or use it for other purposes?

I've been using it in my house rules to simulate the effort required to move units between bases. Since an LCU will require more than 24 hours notice to ship overseas, I won't move a unit until the future objective (of the destination base) reaches 5 for small units and 10 for large units. For example, say I want to move the 2nd Marine Division to Auckland. I set the future objective to be Auckland and wait a week or so before finally shipping out. Once the division reaches the training base, I set the future objective to the combat hex and allow it to enter combat at any time. The only exception occurs during evacuations, which can only occur when an enemy is in the same hex or the unit has no supplies.

Priority assaults get prepped and base defense forces ALWAYS get prepped.
