Would SSG/Matrix ever consider producing an American Civil War operational war game? I would so love to play a game like the old AH "Stonewall Jackson's Way" line on the computer. I remember being very excited when it was rumored that the V for Victory system was going to be retro-fitted for the Civil War ( I think the name of the series was "Drums of Glory") only to be disappointed when the idea was scrapped. When it comes to computer Civil War games all we ever get are the usual tactical battles. Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter?

The game system is fantastic!

It would suit any battle most places in history - where there is a lot of movement.

Vehicles in the 20th century and horses in previous times.

The places it would not work, would be set piece battles such as Waterloo and the ancients.

The engine would work if the British and French fought over Belgium and Waterloo was worth a lot of victory points.

Greetings

I just bought the game today and must say that I am impressed. I am working my way through the tutorial to learn the interface, but I may just jump right in to a scenario.

Have you heard of VASSAL? http://www.vassalengine.org/ I play the old civil war games such as Stonewall Jacksons Way, and Victory Games "The Civil War" online against my friends. You download modules for the game you want to play and VASSAL loads the map and counters on the screen for you. Of course you need to own the boxed copy of the game for the rules and CRT.

I think the BIN system would be great to play these great Civil War games. I would buy it.

I'll put in another vote for a BIN-type Civil War or Napoleanic game. That would be great!

I agree would like to see both Civil War and Napoleonic Period game.
Would also like to see a Campaign type game done using the Decisive Battles System, with possibly 2 - 3 map sizes and possibly randomised maps.

I agree. I'd love to see that old AH set of operational games converted to the PC.

Check out the new Bull Run also over at www.madminutegames.com. It's a keeper.
