Roger Neilson -> looking to enlist in a Jap team (1/27/2005 9:58:59 PM)

I'm keen on playing as part of a team alongside another first year full game I am playing. I reckon I'd learn a a lot and also have a lot of fun working with others. relative newbie to the game, but learning fast.

Don't have a clue how the team idea works but I imagine its great fun.

I'm in England nad reckon on being able to turn a normal PBEM full game turn round every day - I assume it can be slower given the team consultation needed.

Been internet wargaming for almost a decade - I don't quit games.

Roger

Servus!

I am from Vienna (Austria). Makes us 3 Japanese. [:'(]

So where are the 3 US boys?

Gruß
Harald

BTW: maybe it is a good idea to wait for patch 1.5. Just my 2 cents.

Greco, Thomas A -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/16/2005 11:21:45 PM)

I'll be a US player, It looks like the only way I'm going to get a game. My German is pretty weak though.

Paulchen -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/19/2005 1:35:12 AM)

Will we start?
Will we wait fo two americans more?
Will we wait for 1.15?

roberto5352 -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/19/2005 2:12:52 AM)

I'll play the Allied side. My German is nonexistent. My French is atrocious, but my English is sparkling. I propose that as our team language. I'd vote for waiting until 1.5.

Greco, Thomas A -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/19/2005 2:24:59 AM)

We have two allies. Should be enough. How do we get started?

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/19/2005 4:45:11 PM)

Ok, sorry i forgot to look at this thread for a bit.

I assumed there was no interest.

Do any of us have any experience of playing a team approach? I don't but i like the idea.

I am only fluent in English.... and not that fluentt after a few glasses of wine!

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/19/2005 4:50:05 PM)

I might be able to find another Allied player.... I'll get back to you.

Roger

Paulchen -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/19/2005 5:56:23 PM)

An Idea for a team:

Jap:
Player 1 take control over Kwuantung, China and Burma
Player 2 take control over the combined-fleet, 4th fleet, southeast-fleet, northern area and home-defence
Player 3 take control over south-area, the whole industry, all cargo-ships, ressourcen, supply and eventually fighting in australia.

american:
Player 4 take control over Burma, China and Soviets
Player 5 take control over Australia, Dutch and SW-Pac
Player 6 take control over North-, Central-, South-Pac and Home-defence.

First turn and then every week a strategy-conference for the team.
Every player managed his area alone. He can ask the other for troops, ships, planes and supply.

Hi, Use Babel fish. Keep it simple "schicken Sie mir Schiffe"
I'll run China.

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/20/2005 1:30:32 AM)

looks like we have 4 Japs and three allied.

Hmm, I shall ponder this overnight as its late now.

I think we may need to open up a new way of communicating between ourselves to agree areas of responsibility, which scenario and house rules.

Hopefully I can get this sorted tomorrow gentlemen.... I kinda am assuming responsibility as i began the thread, but will bow out to anyone else who feels they are better placed to coordinate all this.

Cheers

Roger

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/20/2005 1:50:01 AM)

Ok, looks like we have two teams of 3 each. However there are other who seemed interested, so this team approach has a lot of value i feel. Keep posting to pull other into such battles... I think it could be more fun than head to head!

mogami -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/21/2005 12:22:05 AM)

Hi, As long as speed is not an issue take as many players per team as want to play.

general billy -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/21/2005 1:19:56 AM)

Well, hopefully we can managed 1 turn per day, longer than that, I dont see us getting far in it.

Feinder -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/21/2005 2:19:08 AM)

Divide up your teams and who commands what. Let's say you have 4 players, 2 to side.
Japan-1
Japan-2
Allied-1
Allied-2

Japan-1 makes his moves, save the game, does not end. Sends saved game to Japan-2.

Japan-2 makes his moves, ends the turn. Sends the completed turn to both Allied-1 and Allied-2.

Whichever Allied player works on the turn first, sends an email to the other Allied player, that he is currently working on it). Let's say it's Allied-1.

Allied-1 makes his moves, saves the game (no end), sends to Allied-2.

Allied-2 makes his moves, ends the turn, sends the completed turn to both Japanese players.

Again, whichever Japanese player gets the turn first, should send an email to his teammate, that he is currently working on the turn. Either Japanese player can execute the turn (to create the 001 file), but only one should begin working on the turn. Let's say it's Japan-1.

Japan-1 executes the turn, makes his moves and saves. He sends the the saved (not ended) turn to his team-mate.

Japan-2 makes his moves, and ends the turn, and sends the completed turn and the 001 file to both Allied players.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

esteban -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/21/2005 8:38:06 AM)

This is an interesting concept. Keep us informed as to how it works out.

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/22/2005 12:21:46 AM)

Can't promise to furnish an AAR for this one, but I could report back on how its going - where would be the best place? In the AAR section?

So far we are still arranging commands and agreeing house rules.

Roger

esteban -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/22/2005 11:43:49 AM)

You can just post here in this thread occasionally if you want. I personally don't need an AAR, but I would like to hear how this all works out. I am most interested in:

1) How does the separation of commands work out with regarding operations and strategy? Are there any significant conflicts between players over who gets what or what the strategic priorities are?

2) Are team members able to cover for eachother when one has to take time off for various reasons?

3) Are there any breakdowns in the turn handling that cause problems like team members not getting their orders entered, or corrupted files?

SoulBlazer -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/26/2005 7:51:36 PM)

If there's still room, I'd like to join.

I like this idea of a team game. [:)]

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/26/2005 8:31:32 PM)

This team is full, but others are also interested so stick around... there may be another team gathering...

I'll post our progress and that might encourage others to try it too.

Roger

SoulBlazer -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/26/2005 8:54:26 PM)

Cool, I was just about to start another thread asking about a new team. [:D]

I'll wait for your annoucement, then.

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/26/2005 9:29:52 PM)

well now there are at least two of you, plus some names back in this thread who did not make it to the final team gathering... 4 or 6 as trios or pairs seems to be the way to do it.

Roger

Roger Neilson -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/26/2005 9:32:45 PM)

I just realised as you don't know who is on the team that was not much help. The three that are in this thread that are not involved with our game are Paulchen, Thomas Greco and Roberto.

Maybe you should drop them an email?

Roger

SoulBlazer -> RE: looking to enlist in a Jap team (2/26/2005 10:38:02 PM)

Better yet, I'll just start a new thread. :)
