CSN -> hours of play???? (1/29/2005 2:15:31 AM)

I`ve been playing guadalcanal for about 90 hours against the (ai) and am only half way through..Is this about right (timewise) or am I really slow????Got the game for Xmas and am really enjoying it..HOwever, it does seem to take a long time to finish a scerario..[;)]

For the full campaign, playing against the AI (which is faster since some nights I can knock out 3-4 turns) I play just a little slower than one month per week. Maybe 3 weeks per week.

I suspect (not having completed a game) the end will be either arrived at or obvious mid 1944 so say 150 weeks/3 is about a year (or more if the issue is still in doubt) to play out the campaign game.

Addendum:

Are you married? I am. My wife loves very hard jigsaw puzzles. So I buy her two or three tough jigsaw puzzles every few weeks. That keeps her busy and happy in the evenings and leaves me more time to play.

(Try buying here the "Rosetta Stone" jigsaw from the British Museum Store (available online). That took Mrs. Beezle a week and I got a lot of WITP in during the week)

Hi: yea I`m maried as well, my wife doesent mind me playing this game.. I`m retired, and she is not..heh,heh...

Seems to me ,, that if 1 scenio4o is going to take about 200 hours, then the entire game must take about 2 years to finish...that is --if you want to win doing it..

Don`t know how far you have got, but would like to hear from you again.. let me know if I am the only one who is really slow at this..

Thanks CSN (confederate states navy)

I began the full first year scenario on the 28th December and am now on the 3rd January in game time, hence we have done 27 game days in 33 real time days. I'm playing the Japanese and the initial few turns were several hours to do the orders... my most recent ones have taken less than an hour as the fighting has focussed on certain key areas. I have a clear idea in my head about the five areas I have subdivided the map into and do each of these in turn so I don't miss anything important.

I'm already itching to do another start, this time with it done properly so I avoid having quite so many bad deployments and blind alleys that I have run into.

Cheers

Roger

It also depends on whats going on in the game. If its in a middle of an operation, or a contested piece of real estate, the thinking aspenct of the turns makes it longer- to me anyway. if there is a lull, then i can bang them out quicker.

Keep in mind, (a) there are two sides to be played and (b) no human that you play will play the same way so ...

There really is no finishing ... it's a lifestyle altering game.
