Speaking of fragments, I've got a question - actually two: 1. I broke the AVG down into squadrons. One of the three squadrons got killed (overrun, all shot down, beamed somewhere in the galaxy, or something - I forget how) and left no fragment. I can't get the two remaining squadrons from recombining. Am I forever prevented from recombining the AVG (or any other group) in this situation? In other words, is it true that, in order to recombine, you must have an element from each of the three sub-units in the same hex? If one sub-unit is completely destroyed, the remaining sub-units can never recombine? 2. Am asking this one based on memory from many months ago. I got two of those USN replacement squadron/group thingies of about 50 a/c. I wanted to stick them on something like a CVE or CVL (don't remember the circumstances - maybe they were F6F's I received before F6F's were being manufactured). To squeeze them on, I broke the group down into three "squadrons." They were still too big so I broke a "squadron" down into "flights." Once done, I had something like VF-1/1/A, etc. Even though I never took losses that I recall, I don't believe that I could recombine all of the elements of VF-1/1 (i.e., A, B, and C), which appeared to prevent the recombination of VF-1/1, -1/2, and -1/3, so I was stuck with a bunch of fragments running around that I couldn't recombine. Comments?
