Danny Boy -> Long Campaign update...moved from 'Surprising Poles' (2/2/2005 2:44:46 PM)

OK Guys,

So far we have had three battles...2 vs the Poles and 1 vs the Brits. All 3 were decisive victories on 'Medium Setting'

The 4th Battle is at turn 9 of a 36 turn Assault vs the French at Lille. Since I have been allowed the use of Air support, I cannot over emphasize how devastating the Stuka has proved in the current and last battles. My support units have been made up of Stukas and engineers and the new Stugs, and we are once again facing an army on the retreat. After having opened up with a small recon sortie of 6 Stukas to see how their forces were disposed, and discovered where the minefields ran (with the loss of some of my humble Stoewers) I then unleashed the might of the Luftwaffe with my 20 Stukas flying in to cause mayhem in the south...especially one area of elevated ground. After having pounded this area with 3 sorties, my engineers under cover of the planes and mobile Sig support, managed to clear a path through the ...3 Hex deep minefield!!! to afford my experienced troops to mount a vicious attack.

So far we have lost only 4 Stoewers, a halftrack and 1 Pz38t. We have taken the VH's in the south and are proceeding towards the central clusters. I have a skirmish line of Stugs sweeping along the rear making mincemeat out of the suppressed and retreating French. However, I have yet to reach the concrete fortifications to the north....time for the Luftwaffe to be unleashed once more!

Further reports to follow.

Cheers!
