KPAX -> Limit of planes 250 ? (2/3/2005 6:21:54 PM)

1. There is not a penalty if there is 50 aircraft / airfield.

2. 2E bombers need size four and 4E needs size 6 for most effectively flying.

3. It appears that there is a limit on the number of aircraft. On the base screen which has an airfield size of 6+ the total planes is 250 even if the AV eng is greater then that.

Question is there a limit of only 250 planes elibile to fly from a base regardless of the size of the airfield ?

If not, why the limit of 250 on the base screen ?

The limit of 250 is the number of AV Support needed to fly/take care of any number of AC without penalty. Even then, higher numbers of AV support will repair AC faster.

That is the limit on how much aviation support is required. You never need more than 250 at a base, regardless of the number of a/c there.

Ok, did not know that.

So for example. if LA is size 10 airfield, the most AV support needed is 250, regardless of the number of A/C flying there.

With the 50 limit per airfield size, I could have 500 planes flying out of LA, with 250 AV Eng, and they would all fly without penalty ?

Understand that more than 250 AV will help with repairs.

This is important for training of the air units. The airfield size is important for the 4E planes and the 50/field ?

Sorry to be so dense but just want to make sure that I can fly tons of planes off, like Darwin, for training, understanding AV is 250 and the 50/field size limitataions. Makes kinda big difference. I was limiting the # to 250 total when I could have a lot more then that.

Did I say this right ?

Hey KPAX,

Running out of airfields that you need to stack them this deep [;)]

Wait until '45 as the Yanks, you'll have 2000 aircraft piled up at every base and nowhere to put more. I remember playing Mogami during the test, it was more work playing the Allies in '45 then the Japanese opening turn.

Nikademus -> RE: Limit of planes 250 ? (2/3/2005 11:36:53 PM)

nothing beats trying to do Japan turn 1 however.....

I still dont have a comphrensive one down yet and dont look forward to the sit down....

Ok, flip me your turn #1 when you are ready ... cause I don't have the time either [:D]

Speaking of 50.
Can air groups expand past 50 aircraft now or do you still need to split them? I remember it was mentioned in the forums several times but I don't remember seeing anything in patch notes about it changing.

A Yank BG of 72 aircraft had only 30 odd aircraft in stage of ready/damaged. Added some aircraft to the pool. It jump to 50 and remained there. (using version 1.40)
