KG Erwin -> For Newbies' Benefit: Armor in the Pacific (2/9/2005 6:31:41 AM)

I wrote this specifically to stir up interest in SPWaW's use of armor in the Pacific, so here's a 2003 article I did for Wargamer : http://www.wargamer.com/articles/marine_tankers/

It's short, but I hope you like it.

Great Article! It's surprising to me how this game mirrored and comfirmed to me
your article. In the Marine lc I try, I have a platoon of M3 assigned to each Infantry company. They do great work. "Mobile defense" just like the article says and they are good against those mgs/mgbunkers. Haven't seen many tanks in the Japanese AI
but I'm not afraid of them. Certainly would not want to tour Europe in one but these
M3's are one mighty asset in the PTO. Thanks for the great article!!

Thanks, polkov ivan. The article writing and my contributions to the USMC OOB went hand-in-hand, so this article can be regarded as background info for SPWaW. As a matter of fact, I considered asking for this to be included as part of the download package.

As for the game, just wait till you get your hands on the flame-tanks. They are very useful, but remember, do not send them forward without direct infantry support.

Thanks for the informative article. But how do you get tanks across deep water without DUKWs? Will an Alligator carry them? Also, if a supply menu offers barge carriers, where's the store where you can buy them ;-)?
