mc3744 -> How many are we? (2/19/2005 1:37:37 AM)

I got curious about 'our community' [:)]

I was wondering if anybody could tell me some numbers

I mean:

- how many subscribers to the forum
- how many readers
- how many copies of WitP sold

Is there any geographical statistic? Like Americas, Europe, Asia.

Cheers

Blackwatch_it -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 1:44:00 AM)

Europe

Paulchen -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 1:45:59 AM)

The old Europe

Subchaser -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 2:21:33 AM)

Decrepit old Europe

Stavka_lite -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 2:57:14 AM)

I would say that there are at least two of us.

You've done well. Now for a harder question ......

How many of the 14611 member have
a) more than 100 posts
b) more than 100 posts on the WitP forum[;)]

scott64 -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 4:41:23 AM)

maybe a few more, the more the merrier [:D][8|][sm=00000436.gif][sm=00000116.gif]

a)There are about 918 with more than 100 posts (average 28/page * 32 pages + 22 leftovers). P.S. Yes I know there 30 possible per page but early on some of the Big Names take Big Space [:D]

b) This is beginning to look like Real Work! Back to WitP gaming! (p.s. feel welcome to leave number/method here for bragging rights!)

pasternakski -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 5:07:27 AM)

Our pal Frag let slip in another thread when responding to someone's technical problem that there were "over 2,000" people for whom the game ran fine.

I think that puts us in the ballpark for sales.

As far as how many posters there are?

[Joel_Billings] I've said publicly that we expected to sell 5k to 15k...
[Joel_Billings] At the moment we are in that range and I don't expect to sell more than 15k, although the game is still selling nicely.

Feinder -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 6:37:37 AM)

Be aware that about half the people that even reads these boars are just "lurkers". The read, watch the cat-fights, and rarely post. And then there is a HUGE percentage of people who never even read these boards (much less know they exist). Active posters who play WitP is actually fairly small minority.

California

Zorfwaddle -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 8:26:32 AM)

Also California (land of the people who drive around during rainstorms w/o their lights on, f**knuts).

Feinder is right. Back in the UV days I had some excellent and dedicated PBEM partners who had 0, or <5 posts on Matrix boards - I don't know whether they just lurked, or didn't visit here at all.

Frankly signal to noise ratio on WITP board is just atrocious sometimes [:D] I love the chatter and I love this community but on the days when board is filled with dozen or so Ron Sauracker-ish angry, and pointless complaints I just go on to play without even bothering to read about "peeve of the day" [:D]

(Ron no offense, this board would not be the same without you, I just needed a metaphor [:D])

Grotius -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 4:40:34 PM)

I have three PBEMs going, and only one of my opponents have ever posted here -- and he only rarely.

mogami -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 5:07:30 PM)

Hi, Many of my PBEM partners never post.
Bosun once in a blue moon

mc3744 -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 6:41:51 PM)

I posted myself the first time only after months of play.

For a long time I've been only reading.

I hardly post at all, their are few of us that don't post to often. That is one of the reasons I don't do any AARs, though I read them a lot. With 6 games going I have my hands full.

Freedom205 -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 6:59:34 PM)

Hey Subchaser, is that a real color pic of a Yagumo or Kagero? Either way it looks sweet!

TSCofield -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 7:00:55 PM)

I'm sure matrix has a running number on sales. I would be curious to know how many copies have been sold.

It probably would be rude of me to ask though.

ROTFLMAO! [:D]

ain't that the truth...i'm a transplant from florida and i think if californians had to drive in florida rain, half the population would be culled due to "IWSBDS" (Idiots Who Shouldn't Be Driving Syndrome)

but, new law requires headlights when windshield wipers are on...so there is hope [8|]

Zorfwaddle -> RE: How many are we? (2/19/2005 8:36:45 PM)

Yeah, maybe. But Im not going to hold my breath. The amount of dings, busted fenders, etc I see around here attests to the fact that these people are idiots :-)

Original photo is b/w, it was colored in Photoshop. This is Sagiri, Ayanami class destroyer.
