as I started to implement my PT squadrons, i noticed that there was a big gap in the boat numbers... stopping in the 80's and then picking up at PT-117... I was hoping to get Kennedy's boat in the fray... but it never showed
any ideas why they skipped?

PS... sadly, McHale and his PT-73 took a disintegrating bomb hit a few weeks ago before they could discover the humorous side of the war!

There is a PT-109 as well as others from the 80s through the 110s. They are usually created in order but not necessarily so.

look in the ship arrival schedule.

can the PT's arrive out-of sequence?

or will they disappear if not used?

Some of the PTs are in the ship arrival schedule listing and some are generated from supply.

in the ship arrival schedule, the PT's are just listed as "PT's Available" no specific numbers...
do they periodically show up as actual ships on the list?

You can look in the editor to see when PT's arrive.

FYI, if a PT is sunk, about 90 days later it will be available again. PT's and barges respawn if destroyed. However, their first arrival date is set per the OOB (and visible in the editor).

and wouldn't ya know it... played a turn last night, created some PT's on Yap and there was a couple of 60's and the 109!
I guess they do randomly enter.... maybe they were destroyed in the early part of the campaign, and I didn't notice...

another question...
what about smaller craft skippers? I noticed that I sometimes get Japanese captains assigned to smaller ships (mostly PTs) obviously a glitch, but are historic commanders utilized in the game? i.e. will Kennedy show up in late 43?

Bradley7735 -> RE: and another thing... PT-109? (3/5/2005 1:46:56 AM)

There are very few historic skippers hard coded to thier ship. I noticed Sam Dealy on the USS Harder. I think the CV's start with their historic skippers (at least the 42 ships).

But, for the vast majority of all ships, the skipper is random. I don't know if 109 has Kennedy.

PT 109 doesnot shoe up with JFK. And i don't see him in the leader database[:(]

pry -> RE: and another thing... PT-109? (3/5/2005 5:30:42 PM)

He is only available in scenario 12 in command of PT-109 the actual time frame he was in command. Ships do not upgrade commanders unless the original is killed so he was not added to the full campaign scenarios.

Scenario 12, Kennedy, J.F. (12979)

That's a nice touch. It was missing in the UV "Hard Road Ahead" scenario.

What sort of rating was he assigned?
