Thanks guys. Renaming did not work. No sound at all, but the game did work! I also had this trouble with another game called." Space Empires V" If I get a new sound card thats better than what I'mve got, could that solve the problem?.

[&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o][&o]

Yeah - probably so.

i would also try checking for updated drivers for your current card.

ChezDaJez -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (10/8/2007 4:05:16 AM)

I'm betting that a new sound card will fix it. For whatever reason the Audigy just doesn't seem to like WitP.

BTW, have you tried updating the sound driver first? Could be there is a newer version that will fix it. Worth a shot anyhow.

Chez

pclarke -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (10/26/2007 12:04:55 AM)

Have played WIP since the start and played it on my laptop (when travelling) and home PC. Have added all patches as time went on. Both games do not work anymore.
On boot up I get the credits for Matrix etc etc but when it would have switched to the original footage and ongoing intrduction -it stops and I am left with a blank dark screen. To get out need to ctrl alt del back to windows. Can you help please? Is this linked to windows XP? Have not seen this on this thread.

rtrapasso -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (10/26/2007 12:25:43 AM)

Once you get past "YOUR FILES ARE BEING ORGANIZED, SIR" and the first little film (from Matrix) starts up - hit ESCAPE key 4 times. This should get you to the main menu screen.

If you hit ESC 5x - you return to desktop.

pclarke -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (10/26/2007 11:33:44 PM)

Thanks that did work. Then my son deleted the video files from video folder and that also seemed to resolve the issue. Thanks.

rtrapasso -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (10/27/2007 4:13:14 AM)

Oh good - i was wondering if it worked for you. Good deal! [8D]

Grove RD -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (2/8/2008 5:51:17 AM)

Hello :  purchased game 2004 and never had any issues until about a year ago. Game crashed after 1st few turns. I get microsoft error Executable. And  (Trimble  GPS Path Finder office ) Message error. I have uninstalled
and  reinstalled a number of times  with no issues installing or setting up senarios. I had loaded patches but may have not loaded in proper order.  Any ideas   Thanks           Grove RD

rtrapasso -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (2/8/2008 3:00:05 PM)

Install sequence should be any old (pre 1.804) version - then 1.804 comprehensive, then 1.806 (revised).

rtrapasso -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (2/8/2008 3:05:56 PM)

This problem is being addressed below in a separate thread in the Support Forum.

est1895 -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (2/21/2008 3:44:42 AM)

Sir! I was AWOL sir. I'm sorry I didn't report earlier. The sound problem can be fixed by using the Sound Blaster X-Fi card. I have yet another problem with the 2 secenario. When I try to loadup the 1st Formosa, the task force says this: Capacity 0 and nothing is showed in the unit loaded, it was blank. Then, when I dismiss the empty taskforce, the transports say 0 instead of saying none. Please help! I have a new system, but this problem was going on in my previous system. Go Figure?[8|][8|][8|]

Please don't post general problems in this thread... please open a new thread for this problem.

EDIT: i probably shouldn't have addressed some of the other issues here[:-] [:o], but they were "easy" ones...

RE-EDIT: Problem transferred to non-stickied thread in main support section (see below).

it seams that patch 1.804 comprehensive downloaded on matrix site, is infected by a troyan[&:]
many players report this fact and sometime some AV can't scan the file ??

Terminus -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (3/28/2008 2:38:43 PM)

There's no Trojan in that file, it's a false positive.

I have the updated/patched version and am playing by email. I am using Windows XP. The Combat Results category posts only Dec. 7th, and not the updated results. Is there a fix?

MBogdasarian -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (12/28/2011 8:04:52 PM)

My friend and I are PBEM and cannot get a combat summary to show. We get something completely unrelated to the time frame we are in. He does send (he is the Japanese) 001 file, and has each time. Thoughts?

MBogdasarian -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (12/28/2011 8:13:12 PM)

I don't understand a peculiarity of the game and would like some direction: for the Chinese there is some difficulty getting replacements to front line units which have taken losses. If there are several in a hex one can access the unit board which lists all the units. At the bottom there are two tabs, one for replacements, and one for not taking replacements. Clicking the former allegedly allows all units in the hex to take replacements, and on looking at the specific unit, at the bottom left corner, the "allow replacements" tab is visible. However, if one has a single unit, it does not seem to take replacements if the "allow replacements" tab is visible, and instead one must click the tab so that "no replacements" tab shows. The confusion is allowing my Chinese units to remain very understrength. What is correct? If the tab is showing, is that the action accepted (which is the obverse of the "divide unit" and "rebuild unit", which need to be clicked to allow the action to occur)?

I have Windows XP Pro on my desktop, I just got this game and installed. Now I get this; instruction at "0x13b57804" referenced memory at "0x00000004", memory could not be found. Hen i am trying to play the Tutorial. I have not tried any other scenario's yet. Do I just need to update or? I thought I had the latest version.

kruiser86 -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (5/23/2013 6:36:00 AM)

Now I am getting this; Application failed to initialize properly (0xc000012d) WTF is going on?I don't even know if the previous error still applies. I just want to play this game, it looks/sounds pretty good, I hope I can get some help so I can find out for myself.

Hi and welcome to WitP.

It's probably better to open a new thread if you need help. Posting here isn't so visible.

If you bought the game just now you might have the latest version available but I always thought that you needed to
both add the 1.804 patch (which goes on top of any earlier version and contains everything upto then) and finally add the 1.806 pacth.

Which version are you running?

kruiser86 -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (5/29/2013 1:05:08 AM)

thanks I am guessing that is the problem. I actually got this from a friend at work, he told it was a great game. but he beat it and was going on to something else. So no it is not an updated version, to my knowledge, I will find out and let you know.

kruiser86 -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (6/3/2013 6:34:15 PM)

Ok BPRE, maybe you or somebody out there can help me. My newest problem is that when I try to install the updates/ patches the program tells me my serial number is "invalid".

tocaff -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (6/3/2013 8:33:27 PM)

Have you tried a fresh install?

kruiser86 -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (6/10/2013 9:54:58 PM)

Yes it is. I am sorry about the delay, lots of issues when you have a big family.

BPRE -> RE: Windows 2000/XP Users ONLY (6/11/2013 10:50:55 PM)

Well, it requires the same serial number as you used for the initial install when you install the patches.
It's a long number so it's easy to make a mistake.

The patches are common for us all so it's just checking that you specify the same serial number as during the install.
If you installed it in the default location you will find a file called serialreg.txt in C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific.

In that file you'll find the number you used for the initial install. You need to load patch 1.804 and after that 1.806 for a complete install of the latest version. All the other ones are covered by 1.804.
