Rubblestone -> Supply Trace Display Button (3/9/2005 5:09:57 AM)

When viewing a supply truck what exactly does this button show? What do the green, orange (yellow?), and red symbols mean.

Good question. I'd like to know too please. :)

If you don't get answer here, you might want to post it in the BiN forum at http://ssg.com.au/forums/ too.

If you place that supply truck on one of those hexes, NEXT turn that is the color burst it will be using--IF enemy interdiction/ZOC/rubble, etc. doesn't interfere with it.

So while you usually want to stay on Green hexes to get the maximum burst, you may have to move into the yellow or red hexes to get the supplies from the truck to the frontline troops. You can see that by the outline generated by the various color buttons next to the trace route button.

Check the number of emergency crates on the truck--if you are going to need to go into the red you might just go farther and use the red burst from the truck and use up a crate instead.

Note that there IS an oddity--if you are looking and the hex says green you may find that you're still bursting in amber next turn--this is due to the AIR condition being bad. If you check the actual supply dump status it incorrectly says the ground condition affects the max level in the middle--it's really based on the air. In this case the MAXIMUM you can burst is amber even if you're on green. Make sense? [;)]

Errr, I'm confused. But I'll read it again tomorrow and it'll make sense (I think). [8D]

Thx Pterrok!

Pterrok those coloured hexes sound like the way is was done in Korsun Pocket.

Rubblestone -> RE: Supply Trace Display Button (3/10/2005 1:48:57 AM)

Yes, that sound like korsun pocket to me, but in this game it shows colored circles (supply symbols) but I can not make heads or tails out of their meaning, they appear in only certain hexes (most of the hexes in my control do not have anything)

Does anyone know how to take a screenshot? I could put one on to show what I mean.

Here's a 30-day trial piece of software you can use to do that.

I was saying hexes but I was seeing circles in my head--it's the color that's important! In BiN the circles define the area of color--so when there is a gap with no circles present, you have to mentally fill it in with more of the same color circles as around the edges--using the worst color if there is a choice between two.

It CAN be a bit confusing at times when you start running into areas where NO supply will reach next to areas that ARE getting supplies--you'll see bunches of circles and may not be sure what color to fill it in with, but if you work outwards from the supply sources you'll figure out what the deal is.

Start a Breakout game as Human vs Human. Skip the Allies turn and look at a German supply truck trace route. You'll see areas of green circles. If you move into one of those 'dead zones' you will get NO supplies next turn! So go ahead and move the truck, advance the turn and skip the Allies turn 2. Check the truck you moved and you'll see it's now bursting Red from an emergency crate if you moved it into a dead zone.

This IS the best way to figure it out, BTW, start a human vs human game and just view the trucks and move them to different places and see what comes up the next turn...

What do I click to see these circles?

To see these cirlces first click on one of your supply trucks, then when this unit is show in the Unit Display Area (right hand side) you will notice a row of buttons at the bottom (of the supply truck unit). The first 4 are for looking at its supply radius at differnet conditions, the button in question is the last one (looks like a truck)
