Question says all: what's the best place to repair CV as Japan? how many AR do you use (do they add speed to repair?)

Hi, The base with the largest repair yard. You only have 1 AR at start and it is normally outside Home Islands (I send it to my support base for each operation to get damaged ships ready to return to Home Island repair yards)
After you build a few new AR send 1 or 2 to the yard with the most repair work (the most damaged largest ships)

A Fleet HQ in the port makes a big difference as well. The repair yards are great, they can really speed up repairs (if the port is big enough). Don't be afraid to expand the repair yards either, that is supply points well spent (edit: only in a big port!).

This may sound like a stupid question, but... does it make any difference to repair time whether your AR's are disbanded as opposed to docked at the port?

Hi, I disband mine.

Things to repair faster
Naval HQ, AR, AD (for DD) AS (for submarines)

I personally concentrate all the damaged ships in Tokyo and all the AR, AD I can get.

Also I expand Tokyo shipyard twice. At least. I'm not far enough into the game to evaluate any further.

I find it's best to spread your repair projects around. If you have all your damaged ships repairing in one place, you aren't maxxing use of your repair points. They only accumulate four days worth, so its use them or lose them. If you have many ships in one port, only a few of them will be able to take advantage of the repair point bonus. If they are spread around at say Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Maizuri, Shanghai, Singapore, and Hong Kong, you can really speed your repairs along. Increase the repair facilities at any level 9 or 10 port to at least 100.

It looks like I'm an order freak [:D]
I like to have them all in the same place to better check them out.

Am I nuts or what?? [X(]

Ok, I guess I'll look into this. Anyway I've never ran out of repair points. There seem to be always plenty of them, so what's the problem?
I'm not sure I get it.

The problem is not to have repair points but that repair yards and AR will only work for a limited number of ships. Additional ships will only repair at port rate (modified by the possible presence of a naval HQ).

I have a question about AR: do they work in a port with size < 3, just to patch ships before they sail to bigger ports ? The Japanese damage control is really, really bad.

Another question is : is there possible that during the repair phase, the modified size of a port is superior at 10 or is there no value higher than 10.

If you put an AR and a HQ in Tokyo, modified port size should be 13 for repairs but if the formula is limited to 10, this HQ and AR are better use elsewhere.

modified port values can go over 10..
