Meatboy Dogfood -> is this forum alive? (9/24/2001 9:23:00 AM)

Hello is anybody posting?

David Heath -> (9/24/2001 10:18:00 AM)

Hi Guys Let me say I am sorry for the lack of posts here... Andrew and his team have been working very hard on the next version. We hope to have some new screenshots shortly.

Sith4dmin -> (9/24/2001 10:55:00 AM)

Mmmmm screenshots.

Meatboy Dogfood -> (9/24/2001 7:59:00 PM)

I left an email for Andrew abot the problems with both forums, on the apezone forum and he was kind enough to post a link to the Matrix forums in the whats new section. Thank you Andrew and let's hope everybody comes over here.

I am still interested in what becomes of StUn, but it is hard to comment when there is no current version to discuss. There seems little point in reviewing the shareware version and II is not out yet.

Ok... Screenshots Not really screenshots, but renders of a few of the models in MAX.
And finally... similar to one that I made with different ships, but only released to a few friends.

Ohhhhhhh!!!! Shiny!

Sith4dmin -> (9/25/2001 9:51:00 AM)

That last one is very cool.
The problem is now, no one has an idea of how STUN2 will be different from STUN1. Give us a list of features and examples of the game's level of detail and sophistication, so we can have something to chew on.

Vaaish -> (9/25/2001 6:22:00 PM)

Thanks, but I think you will have to get that info from David or Andrew, I just do graphics...and more graphics...and more graphics...

Tommi -> (9/25/2001 7:56:00 PM)

Yummy! Those pics look very good. Now, is Vaaish going to do the art/graphics of STUN 2? I truly hope so!

Sith4dmin -> (9/26/2001 5:12:00 AM)

Yeah he is.

Andrew Ewanchyna -> (9/27/2001 12:04:00 AM)

Okay, I'm VERY busy. Here's some of the new features:
-New interface makes it easier to do everything. The galaxy map now is on its own screen allowing you to play the game from the map if you want. I could go on but I won't.
-A new galaxy type (island clusters).
-Freighters are now limited by carrying capacity. Can research new ones.
-4 types of cities: normal, protected, domed and underground. Offers increased protection from orbital bombardments.
-Spacedocks to upgrade your starships, freeing the worlds underneath to concentrate on research and its own production.
-Colonize popup allowing you to list the top 20 planets based on criteria you select with a button at the end to pick a ships to colonize the selected planet.
-Graph showing things like cash flow, etc. that you can use to compare against other races.
-Game balancing issues related to weapons and world improvements.
-New graphics 800x600x16bit color, particle effects, feathered sprites. I could go on, and will, but I have work to do

Sith4dmin -> (9/27/2001 2:33:00 AM)

WooHOO this is going to be good!

Meatboy Dogfood -> (9/27/2001 7:54:00 AM)

Thanks for taking the time to give us a few bits. Looks like Some of the suggestions made it over from the other forums. Thanks for the peek.

Tommi -> (9/28/2001 7:23:00 PM)

Um, sir, did you say feathered sprites? What the heck are those? How many different ship types/sprites are there going to be per race/empire? One thing that was nice in Master of Orion 2 was that you had several ship images per ship type (so you could have different looking ship classes in a certain ship type, e.g. Constellation-class cruisers would look different from Enterprise-class cruisers). Not a critical issue though.

Vaaish -> (9/28/2001 11:06:00 PM)

There are 12 sets of 6 ships in the game as well as a few other misc craft types. for artifact defense etc. so to answer your question, yes there are different images for different classes in different styles.

Rhuin -> (9/29/2001 3:12:00 PM)

Graphics look really cool. The only space trading/combat/exploration game I have played is pax imperia. My son and I enjoy playing against each other over our network but never got to complete a game because of the poor mulitiplayer code problems it had.
So comes the question will STun have mulitiplayer capabilities over home networks,lans,internet etc??
What kind of framework for release are we looking at? Thanx
Rhuin
