Alikchi2 -> RE: 2 turns in a row (6/9/2005 6:34:09 AM)

Good luck with the Timor operation. [8D] I'm impressed that you've taken northern Australia already. Eliminate Timor and you'll have isolated Java!

invernomuto -> RE: 2 turns in a row (6/9/2005 9:01:37 PM)

I am also impressed: great strategy

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/09/42

Today was a good day for Mikado.
Mandalay fell so easy at the first attempt...with all its resources intact![8D] And...above all...all his troops retreated towards Lashio, because my paras are still holding Mytikyna[8D][8D][8D]...now the whole burma Army is trapped! My divisions are now moving in different directions. One division ( the 55th ) will chase the troops fleeing from Mandalay, while a mix rgt is moving back to close the door back and the 33rd is moving to give some change at the paras at Myt....the Burma campaign is over!
In China no sensible progress today. His heaviest bombed YENEN again...9 res burnt[:(] in one week a brand new zero daitai will be placed in the front lines in China, while my bombers keep on resting( i'm planning a BIG air operation against Chungking!)
At Akyab my Oscars found the AVG....6 oscars lost against 4 p-40.....a bad exchange[:(]

At Timor my invasion fleet is getting into position. Tomorrow the first landing at Dili, while today my BBs hammered again Lautern, which should be now closed for repair[:D]
A lot of subs are chasing my invasion TFs and my carriers. There are many subs in the area around Timor...gotta pay attention!
At Koepang many ships are fleeing and some PTs are parked in the harbour...but none of those 110 ships is anchored no more...so this probably means he's abbandoning the area.
Now my naval units at Balikapan are being loaded: destination Kendari, where there should be only a base force

In Northern Oz my first unit reached Daily Waters...unfortunately it's an Eng regiment...my tanks moved so slow:-(
Tomorrow some more units will enter....hope not to be stuck with the 59/60 miles bug...not now please!!!!

At Clark Fields the forts are slowing comming down...good!

At Singapore the 25th Army is ready to attack! tomorrow we'll see how the first deliberate attack will go.

We're on time everywhere....except for China where i'm stuck at Ichang...

Gen.Hoepner -> Air battle at Timor (6/10/2005 12:52:17 AM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/10/42

Well...i just discovered that the pilot<N° planes bug effects also the Land base bombers...they almost refuse to fly if they have planes in eccess...this means that i need to empty my IJN pilot pool[:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(]

BTW,...today the first landing at Dili...seems that no allied units is there.
He's clearly evacuating his troops from Koepang... But tpday was a sad day for the Imperial Navy. We lost 11 zeros during tough dogfights....for some reasons the zeros of Kaga and Akagi did not partecipate to the CAP[:@]....his torpedo bombers, escorted by many fighters took off from Koepang and tried to attack my baby KB first and then my invasion TF at Dili. Results are 50 allied planes shot down vs 13 japanese...but those pilots are so precious!!!
BTW we're now moving forward. Tomorrow we'll be 2 hexes from Koepang. More CAP over my CVs while my bombers and torpedo bombers will be on free hunt. I've spotted at Koepang 2 CA and some more PTs...so it's going to be not exactly easy.
in 3 days we should be able to unload my divisions there.

Clark fields fell today. Good result indeed! Now one unit is moving towards Bataan in order to destroy those 2 units sitting there.

The first attack on Singapore went quite well...the odds are already on my side[8D]

In China there has been a boombing at Hanoi...resources destroyed:-( without a single allied plane shot down

27 claudes upgraded to Zeros at Shangai.

Finally my units arrived at Daily waters. Tomorrow 1 division+2 eng rgts+ 2 tank rgts will deliberate attack. a base force and some more engeneers are already there ready to occupy and fortify the place.

I'm now planning to send a regiment and a base force to Akyab..but i'll need some more aircover from Rangoon...gotta wait at least 2 weeks

Gen.Hoepner -> The first KB defeat (6/10/2005 2:16:51 AM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/11/42

Well...an incredible bad day...cannot believe to my eyes....41 A2A losses against 11....the bulk of the forces that has destroyed PH defeated by some Dutch pilots...incredible. i had to feed my empty CVs with some carrier trained zeros....at least for some CAP
BTW i managed to put 2 torps in a CA...my recon spotted 10 more Cruisers hancored at Koepang plus a great number of fighters ( 48) and some 30 torpedo bombers....ok...now i'm sure it's going to be an expensive adventure[:(]
Tomorrow we'll get closer to 1 hex from Koepang. My bombers are set to 2 hexes range...cannot risk to follow those AKs fleeing away.
Plenty of PTs and with that HUGE cruiser TF i do not want to risk my precious BBs....i'll let for one more day my bombers do the jod and in 2 days we'll try to land....do not expect nothing but a waste of pilots from this[:@]

The good news is that we reached Daily waters that has been easily conquered. Now this base will be enlarged and fullfilled with bombers and fighters.

Singapore is falling without any big problems...very very good!

Lae fell too today. A base force is already enroute

Gen.Hoepner -> Overall situation (6/10/2005 8:43:51 AM)

Ok, time for a general summary.

After more than a month of war, i can say things are pretty well going.There are some problems , as always, but i'm happy about the results gained till now.
The only thing that bothers me is the lack of allied ships sunk...a number really really low. He's playing a fanstastic Sir Robin this time!

Ok, let's take a look at the general situation over the map:

PI:Luzon- better than what i could expect. The 38th div that came from Canton in China, give me the chance to put my fron line at Clark, keeping him honest between Manila and Naga and shorting my defensive line. 2 Sally Daitais and one Nate sentai are placed at Legaspi and San.Marcelino. For the moment that's enough to make him burn supplis and train my aircrews.
Mindanao- here everything is japanese except fo Davao, where 10,000 men are holding tight the ground against the 35th Bde. A bombardment TF composed by 4CAs and 4DDs is already comming from Saigon to help getting rid of the last bag of resistance here.2 ki-27 sentais are ready to start their training program at Cayegan

BORNEO: Every base in borneo is Japanese except for Benjarmais. The latter has been arleady evacuated, so there won't be any problem.Balikapan and Borneo did not suffer any res/oil damage, while Tarakan is destroyed for 2/3.
Main airbase is Balikapan where 36 oscars and 27 nells are placed along with 8 Mavis

MALAYA: the campaign for Singapore is going well. The forts are comming down easily and the odds are already in my favour. I hope to close this match by the end of Jannuary, so that i can launch the invasion of Java and the Mini-Hangover

BURMA: the campaign for Burma has been already completed...almost. I still need to reinforce Akyab with a regiment and a base force and to drive back the burma army conquering Lashio( so pushing back all the way to China). Then it will be just a matter of placing base forces around, defend my AFs and wait for Hangover

NORTH OZ/TIMOR: Darwin fell very easily, and we arrived at Daily Waters without many problems. Now i still miss those other 3 North oz bases west of Darwin ( Perth, Whydam and i do not remember). Some Minor naval units are comming to do that job.
Darwin is becomming an important base, I want to reach (5)(5) port Af levels, then i'll stop building and concentrate myself to forts
Timor is becomming a damn problem. For some reasons he decided to transform this isle in a fortress against my waves. He has 23 land units at Koepang , more than 130 a/c ( out of which 50 are fighters) and , altough now fleeing, more than 100 ships!
Now if i want that damned place i need to destroy a considerable naval air force. Losses in terms of pilots are very very high and i cannot efford these kind of losses for more than 2/3 days. So if tomorrow my planes won't manage to open the way to koepang, destroying the surface allied fleet, i'll have to send my BBs and engage a bloody battle for life and death.

SOUTH PAC: all the important bases are conquered, except for PM. Now i have to build Lae and place some IJA bombers and fighters there in order to reduce PM. He doesn't seem to want to reinforce NG...good, it will take me less troops to get it. Base forces and engeneers are already on the way towards Shortland,Buin and Tulagi. All these bases will be built and fortified. Generally speaking this area has been very quite.

SOUTH EAST PAC: i stopped my advance early at Tarawa. this will be the farest base of my defensive perimeter. He's conducing a lot of activities between Palmyra and Canton. Ships are comming and going every day here.

CHINA: this is the only theatre that is creating me a lot of problems. Chunking is becomming the nest of an incredible air forces, that is pounding my bases and destroying my resources in the area. Ichang is clearly impossible to get and he's pushing forward towards Canton. My defensive positions here in the south are not that good, but hopefully i'll have the chance of holding the ground. My only hopes rely on Sian, which is slowly being sourrounded. Lanchow(sp?) will be sieged in few days. 50,000 troops are defending the city, but my goal here is to stop his supply production, not to conquer the place. If Sian can be isolated and destroyed, then i can drive my guys south west towards Chunking, forcing him to abbandon Ichang.... I'm getting ready to restart the bombing campaign with more than 250 bombers and 100 fighters( 45 zeros).

Ok, now a bit of planning for the future.
Assuming that Timor will fall anyhow, after the conquest of the all area between Daily Waters ,Koepang,Perth and Ambonia, i'm planning to divide my forces. 2 Divisions will go eastwards and land at Port Moresby, supported by 4 CVs and a BB division. At the same time( let's say first half of Feb) the 25th Army that took Singapore will be loaded and sent to Java. In my dreams Java could fall by the end of March without too many losses both in terms of men and naval air forces. Then, i'll have to decide what to do. I see two main options: go for East India( or maybe Cylon) with a mini-Hangover campaign, or go for the Pacific with Noumea-Lungaville or Canton as possible objective. Now i cannot really say. It will depends on many factors. For the moment the priority is to speed up the conquest of Timor without suffering too many losses in my assets.

Ok, thanks to everyone reading this. Hope you like[:'(]

Gen.Hoepner -> Jutland was nothing..the naval battle for Timor (6/10/2005 1:41:37 PM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/12/42

*ATTENTION, COMBAT REPORT NOT SUGGESTED FOR THE CARDIOPHATICS( sp? )*

Ok...this was the greatest naval battle i've ever seen. The allies prooved to be brave enough to face the Imperial Navy in a nighttime engagement. For 3 times the american cruisers tried to get thorugh the naval screen of my battleships and hit the carriers and for three times they have been repulsed! They managed to get twice a surprise attack, causing some damages and some disorder in my major fleet. Luckly the guns on my BBs did a wonderfull job and now the main threat is under the waves.
I ended up with a CA ( myoko) badly hit..with sys 59, fld 30 and 35 fire and with BB fuso with some light sys dmg and some fire. 4 DDs are almost sunk. They're all trying to get back to Balikapan for R&R
His PTs engaged too one of my DD divsion...disabling a DD but loosing almost all their vassels.
Now my recon spots 10 more CAs at Koepang...My BBs will try to bomb the place tonight and in the afternoon some 30 kates are ordered to bomb the port installations.
The battle ended up with the loss of 5 cruisers and DDs for the allies.
During the day there were some attacks by the allied torp bombers.They all got slaughtered both by my AA and by my CAP.
The door to Koepang is almost open!
Some more luck and in 2 days i'll be unloading!
What a day!!

Singapore keeps falling even if the odds were'nt too good today.
We reached Bataan.Tomorrow will be ours.
Nothing new in China.

Gen.Hoepner -> The end of koepang fortress (6/10/2005 5:05:23 PM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/13/42

Considering the problems i had to face this was indeed a good day.
My Bombardment TF did a great job, closing the koepang's airport and destroying 22 a/c on the ground. Then the last wave of PTs has been easily defeated. At down, my kates took off and pounded the port. CA Houdson got hammered by several 800kg bombs and sunk lately in the evening. Now the door is completely open. Tonight we'll start to land on the shores of Koepang.
A TF of 7 CAs ( probably DDs) has been spotted 10 hexes west of Koepang, moving west at full speed. The Carriers Kaga and Akagi have been dispatched from the main invasion force and ordered to chase the enemy and look for some easy kills in the Banda sea.

At Bataan our division has been repulsed. I got to send some reinforcement.

No other sensible news or progress anywhere, except for the constant bombing of my res/oil at Mandalay and iin China...but time for retribution is commin....

Gen.Hoepner -> Koepang mistery unrevealed! (6/10/2005 6:55:18 PM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/14/42

Ok, now we know what formed that 23-units-koepang garrison. Unbelieveble! he brought here almost everything he had in the DEI...every single base force...really cannot understand what was the overall strategy here[&:]
The unloading ops went quite good. Tomorrow we'll attack.
the Kaga and Akagi found a surface Tf fleeing...one CL sunk and one DD under the waves. Now comming back to darwin to refuel and rest a bit. I'm not that interested in chasing down every single ships...is the strategy that does matter!

Tomorrow we'll attack Singapore again. The bombardments went good soo far

One more naval bomb and we'll attack at Davao.

In China he started to bomb my flanking units in order to slow me down....

Lashio fell and we cought 16 hurricanes on the ground[8D]..now the burma army is going back to china[:D][:D][:D]

One SNLF unit is moving towards Derby, while Kendari will be attacked soon

Gen.Hoepner -> RE: Koepang mistery unrevealed! (6/10/2005 9:13:14 PM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/15/42

Ok, Koepang fell easily. Now i will send a BB TF to bomb Kendari, while another one to smash Brome. 1 division will be divided in 3 regiments that will assault Leutern,Derby and the rest of the northern oz.
Between China and Burma a lot of allied bombing missions...no way to stop them all. I just need to garrison my main bases.
Still in China he sent some units out of Changsha( Southeast). I'll try to deliberate attack tomorrow.
At Sian and Ichang the flanking movement proceeds very slowly.

NEWS: At Daily waters i spotted 3 more units...so now 7 units are massing in order to attack my positions there...well...it's gonna be tough.

Now time to rest my ships and feed my airgroups.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/16/42

The day begun with the first allied night bombing raid...results were pretty poor.
Then the usual training activities over Akyab. There are 120 fighters at Chandupur.....tomorrow 50 zeros will try to ambush along with 30 oscars...let's see if i can give him some headhaches[:D] Then, as soon as Mandalay will be developed at level 4 i'll place the whole malaya Air Army in Burma and will hammer Chandupur and Dacca!!!
I'll try to cut my combat reports not to make them too boring
What needs to be underlined today is the fall of Bataan with more than 7000 Pows taken. it's amazing! with only 2 divisions and 1 bde i'm slowly conquering the PI[:D][:D][:D]
At Singapore we got good odds and the forts are down to level 1...very good! in less than a week the key base will be ours! than the door for Java will be open!
A regiment of the 2nd div ,along with an engeneer rgt, is moving towards Lautern. Base forces and planes are the final fall of Timor to estabilish a real fortress.
My TFs for Brome and Tarakan are on route
The Baby Kb found and pounded several AKs lurking north of timor...some easy pratice[:)]
Kaga and Akagi are moving towards Ambonia, where they will refuel and get some replacements
A Base force arrived at Port Blair in the Bengal Bay. Some recon planes are already scouting the seas.
In Burma i'm reorganizing my forces in order to get ready for the next push in india.

Gen.Hoepner -> RE: another day in war (6/11/2005 11:28:59 AM)

Ok, now we've entered in the second half of Jan 42. Time's running too fast![:@]
Let's say that in a week Singapore should fall. By the first days of Feb i should be able to use all the 25th army in some other locations. As stated before i'd like to send a mix bde to Akyab along with a base force. The Imperial Guards and other 2 more divisions, with some eng and some arty units will attack Batavia. As we've seen the batavia CD guns were redeployed at Timor, so i should be able to force directly that big port without risking too much in terms of ships. I won't use any CV in the Java operations. i'll dispatch one BB division from Timor. Probably Kongo and Haruna BB along with 4 CAs and 10 DDs. that should be enough.
One more division used for Singapore, probably with one tank rgt and one arty unit will be loaded up on ships: destination Truk. At the same time ( mid Feb) the 16th Army that took Timor will be attacking PM comming from the West,supported by the Baby KB and the Kaga-Akagi TF and by a Surface TF composed by 3 BBs and several more cruisers and destroyers. At the same time the South Sea Det. will move from Rabaul to PM supported by the Shokaku CV group( with the newly arrived CVL soho) and by 2 more BBs. I hope to get PM and the whole new Guinea by the end of Feb, then we'll move back to Truk, where with one more Div comming from Singapore we'll get ready for the next big adventure.....

The idea is taken from the suggestion mae here on this thread by AmiralLaurent few weeks ago:let the allies get some units in the pacific islands, then go with overwhelming forces, destroy everything, leave a small garrison and go back with many VP in the bag!
I've analyzed my situation and discovered that without the usual territorial gains in China ( pre-v.1,4) the odds of 4-1 at the end of 42 will be impossible for me if i go on with the present strategy. So i'll try the pacific raiding adventure. The point is: where to go? The chances are : 1) Noumea area( with Lungaville and Espiritu Santo); 2) Fiji; 3) Canton and Palmyra.
My 6th sense tells me that Canton is the right objective for this kind of action. First of all i've always be very very scared by Noumea and New caledonia. Since UV days that island seems to me too hard to take. Then Noumea is not an atoll, so eventually, even if i conquer the base , i won't destroy all the units garrisoning the place, while at canton you can have a lot of points in one direct assault. The second consideration is more strategically oriented. If he really want to advance in the pacific the "Gilbert way" is the easiest one. And Canton is the ideal base from where to start a great campaign to get back to Kwalajein and Tarawa. Conquering Canton, destroying al those units will slow down a lot his plans and eventually he will have to shift to some other places for his first offensive.

I'd like to have some feedbacks from you, dear readers[:D].....What's best? Go on and try the mini-hangover or go for the pacific raids?

What I'd suggest is a very well supported raid to draw out his carriers and sink them. New Caledonia is the best because if you move quick you can get Efate or Luganville before he can react and therefore bring in your LBA.

Then, if you use all your carriers you can take on his carriers with ease and sink them. He has to think however that only some of your forces are there. So leave Hosho in range of allied search aircraft somewhere in the indian ocean for example, so that he detects it and suspects mini hangover. He will then think that this is an opportunistic grab and will move in with his carriers.

If you decimate the allied carriers right now you will have a free hand to do whatever you like until early 1943. You'll be able to turn all pacific islands into nice level 9 forts with 2-300 AP's in each [:D]

Gen.Hoepner -> RE: another day in war (6/11/2005 2:56:26 PM)

Thanks String. I know i have to get his CVs and seek for a decisive battle, but i see this easier around Canton than around New Caledonia. He's already reinforcing a lot Canton Island...only today i've spotted 2 Big TF at Canton and he's clearly going for Baker...considering that i'm looking for VPs the idea of trapping many units there and destroy them in a great battle is something that i really like. And if he comes with his carriers....well...the more the better[:D]

Ok, today was a good day.

First of all Davao fell with 7500 Pows. Now the 35th bde is free for new operations. At Davao i'll place a base force and a naval garrison unit
The forts at Singapore are gone. Tomorrow the city could be ours...

At Akyab the Ambush went really well. The AVG lost 25 P-40...overall 43 allied fighters were shot down today at Akyab, in axchange of 5 zeros and 9 oscars. That's good. Now i'm planning to pound Chandupur
In China he keeps on sending his 100 bombers to destroy my resources....this is going to be a problem: i must raid Chungking asap!

Two more days and we'll land at Lautern,Broome and Kendari.

My subs did a pretty good job today between Canton and Palmyra, putting 3 torps in 2 DDs and without suffering any losses
An allied sub that was trying to transport away the units pushed out of Koepang has been hit twice by my AWS TF

Great day for the Emperor! Singapore finally fell. 75000 british pows...:-P
For the next 4 days my troops and planes in Malaya will rest , waiting for new orders.

In China everything is ready for the great bombing Campaign of Chungking. 160 sallies and helens are rested and ready to fly. 60 zeros will act for escort duties. 36 oscars and 36 nates will cover the airbase of Hankow. The forecast says partly claudy tomorrow...let's hope the sun will shine on our planes!! My recon says 130 bombers and only 24 fighters at Chungking...let's hope

In Burma he started to train his fighters during nightime....even better! As soon as Mandalay reaches level 4 AF i'll mass 200 bombers and will bomb Chandupur!! BANZAI!!!!!

Many many ships at Canton....this target will be hard! Gotta committ some more units

in 1 week the Java invasion will get started.

I know...but neither at Noumea...Lunga has not been conquered yet. I cannot say how many troops there will be at Canton in 1 month and a half. The worst i will find one marine division and another american division, with arty and CD units. I think i'll need at least 1600/2000 APs to be sure and the strongest surface support...so at least 6 BBs and the whole Carrier force( 500 planes).

He sent his heaviests during nighttime to bomb my resources and he got 4 points of res destroyed:-((((
during the day my bombers with a lighters escort than what i've ordered[:@] bombed Chungking AF....7 hexes far from Hengchov. 30 planes destroyed on the ground and the runaway damaged at 47...not th best result i could hope, especially if you consider that i lost 27 planes in A2A...at least only 3 of them where zeros, while the AVG lost 7 planes.
Now he has 170 fighters at Chadupur...and 119 bombers at Diamond...i guess he moved back the most of his heaviest yesterday..just in time[:o]. BTW tomorrow the forecast says thunderstorms over china...so probably a break for my guys, but i won't stop my offensive. Chungking MUST be closed!!! 80 more sallies are comming from Malaya and few zeros can be recruited from Burma if needed.

everything is quite elsewhere. Tomorrow we'll attack Kendari and Lautern and we'll land at Broome

ciao

Tom Hunter -> RE: 2 turns in a row (6/13/2005 4:53:24 AM)

If you can cause a CV battle and sink the US carriers the benefits of going for Canton are huge.

On the other hand the British cannot stop you, whereas the US might get lucky and beat you at sea. Also the British are strong in this game but they are rapier strong, if you break them they will not come back. Freeboy did a lot of damage to Zeta with an intact force coming out of India, if you can inflict heavy losses this force will come a year or two later, in 44 or 45 instead of 43.

Leave them alone and you never know what will happen, you might wake up and find them pooring into Malaya one morning.

Gen.Hoepner -> RE: 2 turns in a row (6/15/2005 12:26:51 AM)

Just come back. Tired. Completely annihilated by 1780 km ( by car) in 3 days[>:][>:][>:]

A quick report of the last 2 turns.

We bombed Chungking yesterday but we lost more planes than what we destroyed. Today was raining so my guys had some relax. If tomorrow doesn't rain again we'll attack with 230 bombers and 60 zeros....

At Brhome in Northern Oz my small naval unit did not achieve any good result in attacking the lightly defended australian base. Already in the way from Kendari another SNLF.
At Base waters we spotted 10 units going back to Alice Spring...it means that he wants to fight here...good. Already 1007 AP fortifying ...hope to hold Northern Oz for at least 12 months.
1 Regiment is ready to be sent to Rangoon, from where it will be fast trasported to Akyab along with a base force.
Now the Imperial Navy is studying the future operation RAG ( Raid and go). 3 divisions, 2 eng regiment, 2 bdes and 4 arty units will be the core of this brand new assault force. the objective are enormous: Take in 3 weeks PM, Buna, and Gili Gili, securing the Rabaul defensive perimeter. Then going back at Truk, load fuel and supplies and go for Canton with the WHOLE KB in its brighting power ( The CVL soho is arriving in 2 days). 2 BB divisions and 4 DD divisions will operate as escort. Canton,Palmyra and Baker are the main objs. Destroy the american garrisons there and let small naval units with base forces and mavis there. Hopefully he's going to come out and play with his CVs....the well known decisive battle!

the 21st Division will be brought back from Hanoi to Luzon. Its place will be taken by 2 SNLF units comming from Legaspi.

One bde will go for Southern Sumatra, while the rest of the 25th army will be unloaded in 1 month at Java, closing the jaws of my DEI offensive.

In China i'm changing my mind. 4 units are comming back from ichang and will march towards Sian. Gotta try to close the northern theatre asap.

In The solomons everything is quite for the moment.

For what concerns the mini-hangover...everything is stopped for the moment. Gotta conquest Java before doing anything in India....

Thanks for reading guys

Now i have to sleep[>:][:)]

Another day of good weather over China. My bombers took off and hit Chungking badly. 15 vs 15 A2A losses ( 12 sallies + 3 zeros) but more 30 allied planes destroyed on the ground. He can't last for long! He needs more fighters here and if he places his AVG fragments that are at Chandupur i'll start the bombing campaign of India from Burma!

At Akyab he sent 2 land units...my paras will be pushed back and destroyed! I need to speed up the operations of the regiment that needs to be placed there! Now 2 DDs divisions and 4 CAs are moving towards Rangoon. Tomorrow the regiment will sail from Singapore to Rangoon. More bombers and fighters are comming to Burma from Malaya.

Nothing new elsewhere. My 14th Army is still at Koepang, resting and recovering and getting ready for PM and RAG operation
4 naval units along with 4 air units are moving from Tokyo to Truk.

I cannot let him take Akyab and estabilish there an operative AF...gotta think and act fast now!

Gen.Hoepner -> RE: the Chinese Air War (6/16/2005 2:12:24 AM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/25/42

Bad weather again over China[:@][:@] every day of delaying air activities costs me men and planes...cause he repairs his fighters and get in more hurricanes[:(]
But the sun was shining over Mandalay.
A small raid at Chandupur gave me good results. 23 vs 13 A2A but 30 planes destroyed on the ground!!! The AVG cannot be everywhere! I have to use the Zero Bonus now that it still counts something!

At Sian he's evacuating his units....do not know where he's going ( Langchow or Chungking?). Tomorrow i will deliberate attack. If Sian falls easily i can provide to my planes a closer base for the assault over Chungking!
With Sian in my hands i can try to march southwards towards Chungking and force him to retreat from ichang...well, we'll see

Mi sub mines finally hit something...ML Oglala hits a mine at Midway[8D]

Getting ready to start the RAG op. 2 more turns and my divisions will be loaded at Koepang,Singapore and Truk.
CVL Soho on its way from Tokyo to Truk.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/27/42

Today good weather in China.
3 daitais of zeros destroyed 17 AVG planes...that's good! Lost 4 zeros and some sallies but at least now the AVG is out of order for a while.

In Burma my planes attacked Akyab, burning some supplies there, preparing the landing of the 2 assault regiments

The RAG operation officially started. Loading 4 divisions( 2 at Koepang and 2 at Singapore), 4 Arty units and 2 Eng regiments....this will be the most important operation since the conquest of Darwin!

The usual sub-anti sub activities next to Canton Island

Nothing more to report

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/28/42

Today my planes did not find any opposition at Chungking! He has retreated his planes!! Tomorrow we'll start bombing the resources centres!
My troops are marching towards Langchow, which will be now defended by 200,000 chineses....gotta find something to move them from there!

The RAG loading operations proceed smoothly both at timor and at Singapore

in 2 weeks we should launch the Akyab operation

He brought to Chandupur a big supply TF...probably some troops and a lot of supplies...i scored few bombs in there but lost 6 planes due to the last AVG fragment....tomorrow we'll sweep the base with 20 zeros!

Benjarmais will be invaded in 3 days.

Whyndam in 3 days too

He's finally unloading at Baker island...very good! This will be usefull for the RAG operation!

At Daily waters we spotted the 3rd and the 4th Australian Divisions..this means he's massing troops at Alice Spring..gotta be carefull here!

Gen.Hoepner -> a brand new month begins (6/17/2005 12:37:29 PM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/31/42

I lost 2 combat reports...but there was nothing interesting.
These days are quite calm indeed.
In Burma everything should be ready for the new akyab conquest in 4/5 days. We'll bomb Akyab with 4 CAs and few DDs, while the 55th Division will be loaded at Rangoon in 3 different fragments. A MSW TF will look for eventual mines there.

In China our troops conquered the abbandoned KungChang base, just 2 hexes south of Langchow. There he's massing 20 units ...really too much to handle...i do not know what to do now. I'm building up as fast as i can Sian and Yenen AF so i can bomb the place with my sallies...but that's won't be enough. I'd need my whole army which is fragmentated between Changsha,Ichang and Canton. So i'll try to use my mogolian divisions to flank him and force him to retreat again towards Sining. Then i'll move southwards towards Chungking.
In the Air my planes are unmacthed for the moment. He pulled back everything. Now his planes are based at Sining and Langchow

While the conquest of Sumatra has been a bit delayed( no APs available at the moment) the RAG ( raid and go ) operation is moving:
the 14th Army is ready to move from the Banda Sea to PM, with the S.S.det. loading up at Rabaul and the KB waiting at Truk for the Soho CVL. The 18th div and the Imperial guard are already on their way for Truk. Hope in 1 month to have PM in my hands so that i can move towards Canton island.

There, in the central pacific, he keeps sending TFs to Canton, Noumea,Baker etc....i know it's going to be very very hard to get there, but i need to try to unbalance him in the pacific and delay his reinforcing operations.

Today we get Benjarmais: now the whole borneo is in my hands

About the map....the yellow arrows are for the RAG operation, while the white ones are for the scheldued advances in Dei and China

Gen.Hoepner -> 2/02/42 (6/17/2005 7:31:05 PM)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 02/02/42

Nothing really impressive happened today. Constant bombing of Chungking and building up Sian and Yenen AF.
He's massed his troops at Langchow from where he's attacking my 20000 men of the Mongolian 1st army...the got 1 vs 1...so probably tomorrow my troops will be dislodged.
No way to destroy those partisans sorrounded behind my lines in China....they're sucking resources and men![:@]

The Akyab op started today. A MSW TF is on its way and a Bombardment TF is following. The first regiment is loading up at Rangoon. My bombers will keep hitting Akyab while 30 oscars and 20 zeros will LRCAP the transports

I must retreat my subs from Canton island area...too many ASW TFs lurking there...they will R&R for 2 weeks at Kwalajein and will be redeployed en masse in the area 2 weeks before the RAG operation will reach those latitudes

RAG:

the 18th and the Imperial Div are already moving towards Truk. 1 Eng Regiment and 2 Arty units will move tomorrow from Singapore.

The other 2 divisions ( the ones that partecipated to the Oz operations ) are already in the Banda Sea, waiting for the carriers that are comming from Darwin.

The S.S.D. is loading up at Rabaul, with a SNLF and a base force. The KB is moving from Rabaul to Truk.
